My taxes are high because of people who don't pay tax.
Report them !
yeah it's true, if it wasn't for all them not paying taxes i'm sure the labour party would lower the tax rate down to 10% for everyone.
yeah righto.
@ OP - if you genuinely believe they are defrauding rather than just manipulating the laws then shop them in, after all you have nothing to lose.0 -
how can someone "shop" them from third hand gossip though? as that is what it seems to be0

Shoiuld I "shop " a company of OH to the Inland revenue, VAT, HMC etc? Firm, run by 2 b*******, have wives on payroll, [they have never set foot on the premisis] They are moving large sums of money to another company set up soley in their joint names. £1m at least,to our knowledge.
Director taking intrest free loans with no account to other share hlolders.
Upping the price on jobs & pocketing the difference.
Private work not going through the books.Know this as asked if wished to pay cash for our work, to save them tax!!!! We declined & took our buisness elsewhere.
And so the list goes on......... & on.
Have put one employee into early retirment due to poor health, thier bullying tactics nearly cost him his life[wife returned home early, saved his life]
They sit so smug in their little world, totally aware of the misey they are causing.
And no, there is no personal connection before anyone asks. We live in a small community & know loads of people in the area.Just feel very sorry & angry for the people they have hurt.
Is all of this prove-able evidence/fact?
Or just "village gossip"
?

They don't need to set foot on the premises. They just need to do work. They could do that work from home or any other location. They are moving large sums of money to another company set up soley in their joint names. £1m at least,to our knowledge.
How do you know this?

You don't know this. You can't possibly know if they were going to declare the cash work. Just because a tradesman offers to do a job for cash, does not mean that they will not declare it. I know - I do the books for my OH and we declare cash in hand jobs. Not least as the bank charges us to deposit a cheque, which my OH then draws out as cash to pay bills (he's a "cash man"). So rather than deposit a cheque, for a charge, only to draw it back out again, he accepts cash. But his customers still get an invoice and that goes through the books.Have put one employee into early retirment due to poor health
Provided they follow the procedure, they can do this.thier bullying tactics nearly cost him his life[wife returned home early, saved his life]
Evidence of this?
I too live in a small community and the Church/Pub-goers are full of similar stories. Usually a case of "mixed messages" or a rumour that gets embellished.
If you have some real, hard evidence then - yes. The authorities are likely to deal with it. But if this is just rumour, then it's likely they'll do very little. There was an article in the ToryGraph yesterday about people with a grudge "shopping" others for all sorts ..... and the vast majority of reports were found to have no real substance. Just others with a grudge trying to make life difficult.
If you post more about the evidence, I think we can take a view from that

If they are moveing large sums of money between accounts i think the banks have a duty to report large amounts of money coming and going (in anyones account - not just business).
Therefore at some point they will be asked to explain themselves.
Debtfreechick - i agree completly with you about cash in hand, a few people i know accept cash for bank charge reasons and they declare it all, i know this because i do there books aswell.
Thanks

I think you should do another post giving all the details you know including your name their names etc etc
That way HMRC can have a go at them if they have broken the law and in the interests of fairness they can set their solicitors on you if the allegations turn out to be malicious gossip0
