Friend of mine is going to be moving to Cornwall soon and is sounding out the lettings market. Can anyone tell me the point of letting a home targeting 'professional families' and - er - then stipulating 'no children'. On a 3 bed family house opposite a family playpark, as they so helpfully point out! Good luck letting it... perhaps they're looking for a family full of emo teens who'll sit on the swings being miserable all day and frightening the toddlers?

Can't have the teens either, because presumably by then they are students. Perhaps it's aimed at the paedophile market!Mortgage started on 22.5.09 : £129,600Overpayments to date: £3000June grocery challenge: 400/6000

Did they actually speak to the agent - I would've thought that the "no children" was a mistake in the advert, esp as they highlight the play park. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

I've seen studio bedsits advertised as being in the catchment area of schools.... ideal for a !!!!!! maybe? Always wondered what that was all about.
Wonder if I can find it again .... yes, here it is:

When you first get the RightMove search results (thumbnail + overview) it says "A RARE OPPORTUNITY Occupying a prime position this studio apartment ... Cardiff High School catchment ..."
Super if you like leering at schoolgirls/boys then.0 -
I suspect the OP's advert found was just another bad copy/paste and slack attention to detail by an EA. Ever looked at property near to you and found out you're just 1 mile from a beachside apartment in Turkey? I think most people have.0

If they are moving to Cornwall though and have kids - I'd not start with lettings - I'd start with the schools. They might find there's space for one kid 20 miles one way - and the other one 20 miles the other way.
Often, people moving down there just assume there'll be a space in a school. And there often isn't.0 -

Good point, esp for more rural areas. Although as the OP's friend is moving to Truro, they should be OK. (They might not get a space at Penair though, which would be the closest to the advert above - very popular school.)They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
Yes, Truro's the "capital" (population about 20,000) but I thought it worthwhile chucking it in... people don't realise how little's down that way - or how far away the next "whatever it is" is.
With the recent fast/furious influx of people into the county, the schools never stood a chance at catching up/keeping up.0
