hiya, just booked my flights to Dublin from Manchester for 8p, but now I have to find a hotel for 1 night October 14th that's on a budget, I have had a quick look and all seem to be around £100, which I'm hoping to get much cheaper because I only booked these flights so my girls can experience flying.

I have 2 girls ages 6 & 7 years, so I need a hotel that is family friendly and is easy to get to from Dublin Airport. We have never been to Dublin, therefore any tips or advise on getting around and what to see with my girls would much be appreciated!

Haven't Travelodge got a hotel there? Perhaps a family room?

You might find that the bus is the easiest way to get to the city centre - certainly the most cheapest -

The cheapest way into town is the Rambler ticket - it costs the same as a single ticket to the airport, with the bonus of covering the rest of your day's bus travel.

As far as hotels go it would be better to stay clear of Tallaght if you have small kids - the tram is convenient but the people on the red line are notably crazy and the kids might learn some new and interesting turns of phrase. The Isaac Butt has a hostel close to the bus station/Connolly station, and in October it shouldn't be too busy or too noisy. Otherwise maybe the Hilton at the airport.

Check and see if the Natural History museum has reopened when you're going. It has lots of stuffed animals (formerly living animals) and gets progressively creepier the higher you go. I love it!

We have just come back from our Dublin trip and thoroughly recommend the Hilton. It cost us about £140 for one night but we got the hotel shuttle from the airport to the hotel. Th hotel room had two convertable sofas for the children which were already made up, just needed to be pulled down. The room was large and comfortable with a television, tea/coffee facilities, large bathroom and an ice maker in the hall. The deal we got from the Hilton included an evening meal for the four of us and a full breakfast the next day. We then got the free shuttle back to the airport the following morning. Outside there is a bus stop which takes you straight into the city centre - cost 4.70 euros for the four of us one way. Dublin itself was very busy and I was grateful that we were staying near the airport as we had a fairly early start. Doesn't look as if they are offering this at the moment but it might be worth waiting to see if they do it again. We found eating in Dublin very expensive, we had a pub lunch and it cost just over £50 for the four of us.
