Just another update to give you guys – the EA certainly won’t be getting one!

Had a very positive meeting with the solicitor today. He quickly spotted that there are at least 4 errors in the contract which he is going to pursue to try and get it annulled.

Basically, it would seem that we are legally required to have protection of the money and you can’t just go and sign a contract, essentially giving it away.
Also, they have extended by almost 2 years the time given by the town hall to complete the project.
Also, the contract should state that developer has the funds available to complete the project and show proof of that.
Plus a couple of other little things.

Nothing is definite of course. We may get the money back, we may get some or we may get none. But we have most certainly instructed the solicitor to go ahead.

We feel quite confident in him, not that we are a judge of anyone of course, but we are just hoping some sense will come out of this.

We have another meeting with him Monday and I will let you know if there are any other points.

    That sounds quite positive avicola.
    I hope it's easy to sort out/cancel.

You've done what you can for now I guess. Try to enjoy the weekend as best you can.

avicola can I say through all of this, whatever others who don't read the posts more thoroughly may say, you have accepted your errors and been upfront in discussing them. That must be so very hard and I hand it too you for keeping it together. I hope this lawyer can find more holes than a colender and manage to locate some of your money. Good luck.

It might be a wind up, but there isn't any evidence of that on either of the threads you posted a link to.

The posters on those forums are nowhere near clever enough to make up a story like this. They are all in theTin foil hat brigade. You know the type:

Nah, I think you're getting the two mixed up. HPC are the ones who wear tinfoil hats, GHPC don't ;)
