    Hi Pastures New

I get the feeling something a bit fishy is going on.
A post has been sent on the other buying abroad thread from this persons partner. he/she says one of them bought 5 and the other bought 2 flats.
all these people are newbies, and without having time to look they have posted some strange links.
Pastures having read loads of your posts i have loads of respect, so wondered what you think?
just all seems amazingly odd to me

post to look at is "buying abroad concerns"

I don't usually bother following up on things, nor worry about whatever happened to ...

I just take things and people as I find them and respond as I feel at that moment in time.

But I am feeling very down about this. All I can think of is that poor old lady who will have gone without "putting a bit extra to one side" hoping for somebody left behind to have some happiness. And that makes me very, very sad.

If it's a wind up. Then that's life. Some people have nothing better to do. But I can't stop posting just in case it is. Sometimes it takes less effort to respond than to mull.

    :)

I'm just a great big fluffy-hearted hector deep down you know!

I had a quick peek and I don't see anything different to what he said above. Unless there are a couple of different threads.

Seems to be telling the same story to me.

There are two types of people in the world:
    - those with a few bob in their hand that are prepared to risk everything for a greater gain (him)
    - those with a few bob in their hand that consolidate that by sitting on it and not speculating one tiny tiny bean (that's me)

People will say things about you have to take risks to get on, speculate to accumulate. But at the end of the day if you don't know your 4rse from your elbow you have to be either incredibly lucky or incredible savvy. I'm neither. So I take the coward's way out and sit on my money.

I am not sucked in by any marketing, or sales talk. I over-investigate the simplest of things. Heck, I flushed the loo and turned the taps on in this rented bedsit to check the water flowrate! I'm way over-cautious.

I can't imagine ever signing any papers committing me to £1million of kiln-fired earth half way round the world that might be finished in 3 years! eeeek!

and sadly it is not a wind up.
Well I can honestly say that I hoped this was a wind up, because it's the sort of sad tale they make documentaries about, but enough about that, I'm sure you feel bad enough.

Forget waiting for the estate agents, if they acheive something great but otherwise they have been little help so far, and that is unlikely to change. You need the contracts studied by a professional, who works for you. Who knows what's hidden in there that you don't know about yet, and they can tell you if there's a way out, the builders certainly won't tell you, and the EA works for themselves, and since they have to live with these people it's unlikely they'll tell you much. At this stage of the game it's all about damage limitation.
Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!

    I'm the same PN
that's why I'm finding this hard to believe.
I hope to goodness that they can find a way out of this mess, although I don't know what that would be.

I know how the poster would want to do the best for her kids, as her mum did for her, it's just gone a bit askew.
I just can't get my head around someone buying seven flats!!
Not even in this country with language and laws you can understand.
Sorry OP don't mean to be mean but this would be something the media could chew on surely, if you could make some mileage out of selling your story?

I knew I was going to get pain by posting on the forum simply because i deserve it. I put on the other thread how stupid and greedy i had been. I also took the advice from that and started a new thread which you find it in two place.
My partner and I bought the 7 apartments between us so hopefully that clears that one up.

The reason we did it is obviously because they looked like a very good investment. For 165,000 euros with on site indoor and outdoor pool, tennis court and so, there would seem to be no problem selling them on in the near future even for 5,000 euros more.
They were far and away the best thing we had seen in 2 years of looking.

I think I have to just concentrate on the solicitor right now.

    Thanks anyway.

When we paid the deposit of 35,000 euros 3 years ago, they were worth 165,000 euros in total. Now, they have been valued by the bank at 200,000 euros.

they are currently being marketed for 165,000 which would give us zero loss and would clearly make us ecstatic and I could take my head out of the toilet and sleep at night or eat. Except that isnt going to happen as far as i can see.

We would clearly sell them at less than 165,000 euros.

The whole point is that the estate agent hasnt managed to sell them in this past 18 months for a list of reasons which I wont bore you with. But we have always been promised it is not a problem, it was just taking longer than expected. And we trusted that would happen especially as they are the main estate agent in the whole of Tenerife and are hhighly respected.

But we didnt just walk into it as a rash impulse. We had talks with them over a two year period prior to signing up. We looked at a lot of used apartments with a view to purchase but were then swung over to the off plan idea.

Basically we bought at just the wrong time.

I'm not sure you will get much media sympathy - for all the world it looks like clear cut greed gone bad. Unfortunately you wouldn't be making this post if it had gone good. I'd be very careful about trying to make the developer look bad , it may turn completely the opposite wasy round to what you think.

Seems that your only hope is to find a way that you can escape from the contract without taking too much of a hit.

Saying "Now, they have been valued by the bank at 200,000 euros. " isn't any good to you - I'll value them at 500K if it makes you feel better - the value is what you get for them at sale.

What prooof of identity does anyone have?
