British gas are so poor with electric meters for some reason, my mum got switched by a door knocker from Scottish power to BG back in June last year. After a month of being with them she realised she had been duped by them and applied to back to SP.

SP took over the gas supply no problem but couldnt take over the electric supply because BG must have changed the details of the meter (the timeswitch) it obviously wasnt a problem as she was with SP before but then BG took over then SP couldnt take her back. After getting energywatch involved we have finally managed to get the electricity back with SP last month!
    Missing Tesco R&R since Feb '07 :A & now a "Tesco veteran" apparently! ;)

You don't need 3 rates metered.

For flat rate you need one rate (or 2 rates added together as per Cardew's position)

For E7 tariff, you need a dual rate meter as you said you have.

You don't need separate meter rates for Tier 1 & Tier 2 - it is simply the first specified amount consumed in the quarter is at Tier 1 (in Cardew's example, 225kWh) and the remainder at Tier 2 :)

    Yes, I know.

It's Bristish Gas that can't work it out.

    So is there a problem?

If you give us the details from the bill, perhaps someone here could help you
(e.g. meter readings (previous & latest), costs per kWh charged, discount applied, etc.)

  • Energywatch took the details of the meter including all three readings. I had confirmation from them on 30th June, stating that they had again told BG of my meter readings and that BG should have resolved this within 3 weeks.

Today, I had BG on the phone, had the usual oh dear very sorry this has happened so I told her a few home truths about their customer service and how I'd lost count of people on the end of a phone line telling me that they would look into this and rectify it..... Allegedly, the meter company swear they put a single rate meter in, and therefore I now have to wait until next Thursday for an engineer to come out and go "oh look there's a rate 1, rate 2 and total reading".......

  • The meter man arrived this morning. :T

Unfortunately, he has cottoned on to the fact that when they put the meter in, they put the wrong one in and oh dear... how did this happen, we gave you a two rate meter.... Vindication at last :j

Oh dear indeed.... Strange that BG haven't rung me yet to ask if the man arrived!!!

All I need to do now is sit back and wait for the fireworks and I'm sure there will be some.....;)
