What are my options?

I've currently moved in to a temporary flat until I hopefully buy a house.
I was previously with Virgin Media and I was quite happy with them but this new place doesn't have cable so this is not an option.
I want to have a good connection speed as I download quite a lot
and I also use my connection for work.
My option is at the moment is to connect to BT and get the 15mb O2 broadband as I'm a O2 customer and will get this for a fiver cheaper.
The only problem is if I do connect to BT then I'm tied with them for 18 months and this is not ideal as it's possible I may have to move back in with my parents as a last resort and they already have a BT line. BT insist if this happens then I'm still obliged to pay them even though I wouldn't actually use their line! (seems silly to me).
Can anyone provide me with an alternative solution bearing in mind I need a fast connection and good download limits?
