Bargain Crazy RETURNS cost???

Options
Just made order from Bargain Crazy, with the 25% off clothing & footwear. I have ordered from them before, and so was surprised when there were no returns forms with the delivery notes this time. I checked on the back and it says the customer is liable for return costs!! Hoping this was just if you returned outwith the 14 day returns deadline, I went to their site for clarification. There isn't anything there that states it straight out, so I emailed them. I just got a note back giving me the address to send the packages back to. I ordered some heavy-ish items, and would not have ordered at all if I'd know this. I wasn't warned before committing to buy. I'd ordered extra to try styles and sizes, and now feel stuck. It is gonna cost me quite a bit to return the unwanted stuff. Wonder if I have a case as they did not make it clear that they have changed their returns policy. It used to be FREE!!!!! Any ideas before I lose out at the post office? :(

If they have changed the t+c's then i think you are stuck

Only bit of advice i can give is box everything up and send in one package and use a courier pharos will charge abound £9 for up to 32kg package, they use UPS and its fully trackable online too.

  • Distance selling regulations

    http://www.opsi.gov.uk/si/si2000/20002334.htm

state that the supplier is responsible for return cost unless the contract says otherwise. Check the Terms and Conditions on the site as they are the ones in force for the purchase, not the ones on the receipt.
  • Thanks a lot for that info 5bellies :).
To further confuse things, there is no mention of "returns" exactly in their T&Cs, this is all I can find:
"You may cancel your order in accordance with your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations (see the Customer Service Charter page for further details) and we will collect the item free of charge."

Very strange. Have emailed them for clarification. Will let you all know....
  • Have had a response. Bargain Crazy say that they have always charged for returns! Now, either my memory is very faulty, or I am confusing them with another similar internet shop. I'm sure I can remember ordering from them and returning some items at the post office for free, using their labels. Is there anyone out there that can tell me if they used to charge for returns?

Maybe it'd be cheaper for me to sell the unwanted items on Ebay than to return them! :'-(
  • I ordered a wee table from them once, but because they hadn't applied the discount code I'd used I said I'd return it. They said if I did they would charge a fee, can't remember eaxctly what it was, 15 pounds or 15%, something like that.
I started off with nothing and I've still got most of it left.
  • I ordered from them a couple of years ago and a pair of trousers I ordered had a snag in them. I emailed them about returns and they just gave me the returns address. I asked about a pre paid sticker to put on the parcel but was told that returns are at customer's cost.

I argued the point that they were faulty but never got anywhere with them. I was basically forced to keep them and fix them myself as wasn't worth paying to return them. :o

Another cheap parcel courier service is https://www.parcel2go.com

think they charge about £10.52 with VAT or there abouts. Have used them a fair few times, has only been once they let me down and failed to collect the item from me.

I telephone the CS number this morning about returns before ordering the Aqua Drawing offer on another thread and was told it was free returns. I'll be really annoyed if I have been mis informed since I intend returning the items if the 50% off doesn't show on my statement. When I spoke to the CS she did ask which company I was calling about,so they obviously screen calls for several companies. Hope this helps

If goods arrive damaged then Bargain Crazy have to pay or arrange for the return under the distance selling regulations. If they're not damaged you can return them within 7 days for a refund - no penalty charges can be charged -but as it's not Bargain Crazys fault then they don't have to pay.

However... They are part of the Great Universal catalogue group who do offer returns labels to their customers. All calls and mail and returns are handled together. My local PO will accept Bargain Crazy parcels and use the GUS returns service as long as the package has the same address as GUS, ie:

    Returns Depot
    Bargain Crazy
    Raven Mill
    Chadderton
    Oldham
    OL9 9LW

My suggestion would be to change the second line to "G.U.S. / Bargain Crazy" (which would seem to be a suitable description) and see what your post office say.
Life should be a little nuts; otherwise it's just a bunch of Thursdays strung together.

... Hmmm, sounds like a good idea. I'll give that a try. Thanks! :) and thanks to all those others for their info as well. I added it up & it'd cost me just over £9 by royal mail, so all the couriers work out much the same, coz of the weight that it is. If it was heavier it would be well worth trying the couriers instead. Sigh,,,, so much for bargains! I don't think it's fair that there is nowhere on their site declaring the postage policy before you make your first order (I think I may have confused them with "Discount2door". oops ) I will NOT be using Bargain Crazy again!
