Advice quick please, onetel phoning back

Hi onetel from comet have phoned usand offered 2mg unlimited broadband and unlimited landline calls for £29.99 month. Is this a good deal. 10 days notice to end contract with them. Hubby thinks it good for 2meg but we are bit worried cos centrica are selling them. They are phoning us back in 20 mins. They also want our bank details over the phone before they send us any thing in the post. Not too sure about that one either!!

There seems to be a few 'unlimited landline calls' deals for around £8 pm now, and there are quite a few broadband suppliers doing unlimited 2mb for less than £20 pm, so it doesn't sound cheap to me.

I'm with onetel for telephone only and have found them OK, but I have noticed a few threads on here about their heavy telephone selling recently...

You could even set up with Voipbuster and get your landline calls for free :D
  • I wouldn't rush into this one, if they want to offer you a deal they will keep coming back. Obviously too late now if they did phone you back in 20 minutes but I would say no then come back and read these forums for a far better deal ;)

I agree with the previous two posters. Onetel seem to be giving the hard sell at the moment.

They call me, at least daily, offering me something or other. I listen politely to their spiel for as long as they want me to, then tell them that if I want a new telephone/broadband provider I will check it out the best provider for myself. They usually accept this (eventually), but invariably call back the next day to offer me something else.

If you haven't already signed up with Onetel, have a good look through the MSE forums to see what you think would be the best to suit you and your usage.

I do not respond to telephone selling - on the rare occasions I do receive a cold call I interrupt with "sorry, not interested - good day".

If they were ringing me daily, I may have to think of something else to say to them...
  • I usually ask if they can offer me a call rate of 3p a call no matter the duration and that shuts them up
  • Thanks everyone for your replies. They can't be that interested in us though because they never phoned back. Think we will just search for the best unlimited 2 meg broadband. I LOVE THIS SITE.
  • Why not start here on Home Phones and tell us who you are with for your calls and we can see what would be cheaper for you.

  • We are on BT option 3 and looking to change our £21 a month unlimited broadband (512 speed).
  • Arggggg Option 3 so you are paying a monthly amount for calls wether you make them or not?

How many calls a day on average do you make?
  • The site is so bad tonight I'll come back to this tomorrow icon8.gif
