Fagor Electric Water Heater

Hi there,

I have come across a Fagor unvented 75 Litre electric water heater off ebay and was attracted to it as it said there was no ventilation needed. After asking a Question I was told any plumber can install this - no special qualifications were needed and no expansion vessel was required.

I phoned the number on the ad and the person the other end said he had fitted a few of these and there was no external expansion vessel required just a pressure release valve that needs to be connected to a drain.

This sounds too good to be true!

I asked if there was an installation manual to check the installation but he said there was but it is in spanish! I cannot find any information on this water heater on the web either?

If you go on ebay and search for "fagor water heater" you'll see them.

Has anyone come across these? Is it true you don't need an external expansion vessel? Can any plumber install these? Its a !!!!!! to get a qualified plumber in Leeds and mega pricey too. Another thing will it need a yearly inspection?

Your help / comments will be welcome.

Many thanks.

    Hi bob,

    Unfortunately I dot have the model number. If you look for "Flagor water heater" on ebay.co.uk.

    I emailed the company and was told to goto https://www.fagorboilers.co.uk but these seemed to only be gas boilers - and spare parts too!

    Im more curious as to how they can be exempt from an annual inspection and no special qualifications for installation.

    Well if you ever get a part number, then try here for a manual;

    As others have stated, unvented over 15 litres has to be installed by a certified installer - yearly inspections are not mandatory, but might for example be needed to keep the guarantee up.

    Peronally, I would not go ahead on the say-so of an Ebay seller without at least full installation instructions in English:o

    Looks as if it's not officially available in the UK (nor Germany & other European countries), so you will need a Spanish speaking plumber (rare), the guarantee won't be valid and when it explodes you will be on the telly (well bits of you will):eek:

    Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    This almost certainly cannot be entirely installed by a plumber as it is electric, so you'll need a qualified electrician to install the electrical side of it (or at least get it inspected).
