Hiya
I've been to Tsilivi in Zakynthos which in itself was lovely; unfortunately the apartments we stayed felt the need to have music thumping out from about 9am - 4am ish by the pool, which wasn't what we went for  Am trying Alikes in a couple for weeks, I want to relax so I hope this is the place!I personally would avoid Laganas like the plague.
Kefalonia is lovely, we went there many years ago before it was as popular as it is now and we'd definitely go back.
Been to Troulos in Skiathos twice in the last few years and we loved that too.
I would just say that my idea of a wonderful holiday is peace and quiet, a few tavernas and little to no nightlife, which I'm sure would be many people's equivalent of pure and tortuous hell
If you follow the others' advice on here and check out all the review sites you should find somewhere perfect for you with a bit of in-depth researchHave a great trip!

My 17-year old twin sons (and 8 of their friends) have just got back from Laganas a couple of hours ago. From the stories they have been telling us they have had a brilliant time!!! Need I say any more if you are not in this age range!0

We went to Kefalonia, stayed in Skala. Really nice little place - 5 mins walk to the beach and main street, lots of restaurants and a few bars, but not really much nightlife. We took a tour out on a boat to other beaches and an underground lake, and did lots of snorkelling by ourselves. You can day trip to Argostoli to shop too and get to Poros, a little harbour with a shingle beach, really easily. Got a little bit caught up in both a bar fight and a forest fire though.
My friends went to Laganas in Zante too, and basically spent the week drinking and clubbing.Wins since August 2012 - 2xWilderness festival tickets-5 night hotel stay in Mauritius(no flights - couldn't go!)-Flights, wine tasting & 3 night chateau for 2 in Bordeaux-5 night ski trip for 4 to Tignes!-2xSecretGardenParty with hot tub-2xWilderness Art Fair VIP tickets-
Plus - porridge, free film event, free gig.0 -
We go to Kalamaki in Zante every year. It's next to the airport. Nice beach and nice resort. It's mainly geared towards couples and families, it's fairly quiet, but plenty of bars and restaurants.0
