If it is one of the old separate immobiliser keys and you can't get the key copied (as was the case with the immobiliser on my car) best option to prevent any issues from losing the key or the key failing is to have the immobiliser removed.
You could get a cheap alarm installed after, as cheap alarms usually come with a basic immobiliser - ones that cost about £100 excluding fitting. Clifford is a good brand.0
