Bought phone from CPW...then nuisance insurance calls.

I bought a phone from Carphone Warehouse, with insurance. Then went home....Well, the first call I got was only 20 minutes after I got the phone. I should have been more alert but I wasn't. The way the girl talked she sounded as if she was from o2, telling me that if I took Insurance with o2 it would be cheaper than CPW. It sounded plausible, so I went for it. I wouldn't care, this is the first time I have insured a phone..wish I hadn't bothered now.

Every call was by a female with a Welsh accent. The second call came minutes after the first, which I was confused by. I told her I had already took their insurance, and then I knew for certain they were not o2. Shortly after there was a third, so I asked if they were the same company, she said no...there were ' lot of companies out there', and there could be many ringing me. However, they all were Welsh (it actually sounded like the same girl) and the script they used was exactly the same.

I had to go back to the Hospice where my husband is currently, and I got another call. When I went with him for a scan at the local hospital, there was another...this time I was really mad, and I told here where I was, and that what I was doing was more important....she said 'well, it's your fault then, you should have your phone off in hospital'!!! I was angry and astonished. I told her she had a cheek, her response was 'You are stroppy aren't you'. Just five minutes later the next call came. I said that I had had five calls..the reply this time 'It's your lucky day isn't it then'!!

The sixth call I rejected and did so for the next several calls before they stopped ringing me.

I am so angry at them and at myself for giving them my details. Right now I can't afford to lose £79.99 which I feel sure I have. I don't think they are an insurance company at all....I have been robbed of the money and I am very unhappy.

I am asking CPW and o2....I will find out who YOU EQUIP IT LTD is....I have googled them but nothing found which is strange.

My life has other important things going on at present and that is why I was just happy to save a bit on my insurance and get it sorted...I feel a right mug!!

I'm am having the same nightmare as you - I got a new phone on Saturday and the calls began on Sunday and I'm getting steadily more angry about it. They're really rude when you say that you've already spoken to several people about phone insurance and like you I was taken in by their plausibility. What freaked me out completely after the first call was that they had my details - how?? I've been logging details of all the calls I've received (some I haven't answered due to driving or whatever) and am trying to work out who to contact about it. Should it be the Carphone Warehouse or O2?

Had the same problem - log your details with the TPS

It worked for me - apparently if they are UK based and they ring you - they are breaking the law. The calls stopped more or less straight away - had 1 call but when I asked how they had got the number & that I was registered on TPS they hung up

what kind of details you had given them?
1. If you gave them your bank account, just cancel the DD A.S.A.P (from your online banking or phone banking)
2. If you gave them your debit/credit card, report them as fraud and cancel the card.

I think it was car phone warehouse who sold your number on.
O2 or any other mobile phone company isnt likely to sell your number on if they can get you to buy there own insurance.

been getting pester calls on my landline from a company 'claiming' to be 3G.
was verbally abusive on the last call and its been quiet since.

then just as i start to relax i start getting calls about cheaper electric and gas

all international calls!!

worked out how to stop it for free, rang bt to report them as nuisance calls yesterday i was told i could have call display on my phone (i didnt have it set up) so now i can avoid the stupid calls
