SLV-Barclays Silver ETF-Any Mugs Out There ?

Options
Anyone who buys Barclays silver ETF is a mug.

Barclays have now twice issued statements in Jan and May this year, via employees, that in effect they see a weak/tarnished performance for the price of silver in the future.

(can't find link for Jan 2008 article)

Now why would someone running an investment vehicle in silver play it down as a good investment ?

Because they don't want you to buy silver....PARTICULARLY ACTUAL SILVER..BECAUSE IT IS IN SHORT SUPPLY AND IT'S PRICE WOULD GO BALLISITIC IF PEOPLE STARTED TO DO THAT.

Try and buy some silver Eagles or silver Maples from the USA/Canadian mints.

You cannot !!!

They've stopped selling them and will not say when they will become available.
You can buy an ETF....a piece of paper...that is worth nothing.
I promise to pay the bearer ...blah blah blah..

But please, please do not buy physical silver, because that would really screw things up for the banks, who have no silver to manipulate the price (unlike gold) and are shorting it to keep investors on Wall Street and FTSE ETC... and out of commodities as much as possible.

How many people have the know how to trade futures say to buy barrels of oil ?

Silver is the easiest commodity for 'Joe' public to invest in by buying coins.

So they've cut 'Joe' public off by stopping producing silver coins and offered them worthless paper ...an ETF.

    Or what ?

How about a constructive comment, just for once.

Do you live on this forum or is there more than one person posting under the name purch ,because morning, noon and night,as soon as I post you reply (usually with garbage) ?

As I said...Barclay's SLV ETF is a stupid investment in silver,as Barclays are shorting silver. They do not want people to buy silver, thus an ETF which keeps investors, unbeknown to them, from investing in the metal.

I think this thread has taught me one thing - not to invest in Barclays.

If they're shorting silver because it can only go up in price, they're going to be in a lot of trouble.

Anyone who buys Barclays silver ETF is a mug

Now thats a well reasoned and constructive agrument
Barclays have now twice issued statements in Jan and May this year, via employees

How else would they release a statement ??? Even the Chairman and CEO is an employee !!!!

    Eh ??

Investment Firms, and Fund Managers often have to 'play down' their Investment Vehicles if they don't see the market doing well...........especially Long Only Funds.

Why should silver or any other precious metal Fund be different ??

If any bank is shorting something because it thinks the price will rise then, err, their logic is somewhat flawed.

I'm glad it's not just me, I haven't the faintest idea what the OP is trying to say, and thus wouldn't even know where to start in reply, or exactly what I'd be replying to. sorry.

    Barclays is a bank
Certain banks can create 'money' out of thin air (at the click of a mouse).
    Barclays is one of them.
They don't want the general public to realise that this electronic money is worthless and is a means to make a few individuals mega rich, whilst the rest of the world is becoming impoverished.
But some people are waking up to this fraud and are starting to invest in tangibles. This trend must be contained for the banks 'electronic' money business to continue.
So they put an investment vehicle (an ETF) to divert this investment trend into their electronic money, and away from the 'real' thing, whilst at the same time predicting a bleak outcome for these tangibles.

They do not want people to wake up to reality.

    Answer this question

If I could create £1,000,0000 at the click of a mouse...would you give me a kilo of silver or gold for it ?
Because that is exactly what they can do...

It's not that simple, but there's little point in trying to explain that to someone going by your paranoid username.

I don't see why Barclays Capital Investment Bank should offer advice based upon what products Barclays Global Investors offer. The latter is the largest provider of ETFs in the world, they'd offer an ETF in tinfoil if it were popular enough.

If you have evidence Barclays and their auditors, PriceWaterHouseCoopers, are lying about SLV not being backed by physical silver you should inform the authorities immediately.
