I intend to buy a new computer but can afford to wait a bit longer for special offer. I also want to upgrade to bt broadband basic. I would like some advice, please whether to wait and then upgrade to broadband when I buy the new computer or upgrade now with a windows 98.
Also does anybody know if you cancel btsurftime e.g on the 15th of the month, BT will not part refund you for the month? Has anybody upgrade from dial up to bt broadband in this forum. Thanks.

You can upgrade now, no need to have different Window versions.
I am with Wanadoo - ok, ok, not the cheapest, but I'm happy with them. I upgraded 3 months ago and they sent me a Thompson Modem. I installed it as per instructions on my Toshiba which runs Windows XP. In a couple of days Wanadoo connected me.
I then took the other laptop which runs W 98, and repeated the installation.
Both are working a doddle! Not a hitch, not a glitch.
Good luck!Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
if you upgrade to BT broadband basicyou get to keep your BT emial addresses easily :0
if you swap to another supplier you need to dial in to your BT account once every 60 days to keep them (just keep the account as PAYG)
all your PC needs is a usb port, although if you have other USB things plugged in like printers etc you may need an external , mains powered, USB hub otherwise the Pc will have a habit of locking upEx forum ambassador
