I agree with Galileo - these figure are put on the agreement as an example to show you the interest you would pay over a certain period of time. It is not a charge for holding the card, and if you settle you balance before the interest free period expires, then you will pay no interest.

Clearly the C.S adviser didn't have a clue what they were talking about, and due to not training staff properly, Capital One have lost a customer here. Talk about incompetent

I believe gambling transactions will get treated as Cash Advances - immediate fee of around 2.75% and interest charged at an extortionate rate from the transaction date - not advisable unless you have money to burn.

Just thought id share my experience of virgin Card. I got it and did a BT. i forgot to setup my payment, so missed first payment, got late payment plus interest, got nxt statement and my 0% for 15months was gone.

I rang up to confirm, she said yes it had and said lets see what we can do for you.
I never asked for nothing at all, she couldnt give me enough.

Said as was new customer, would reinstate the 0% offer, gave me half my Late fee back, half the Interest and half the interest on the nxt statement.

    Couldnt believe it.
Also said that the remaining Credit limit i was in, i could have it sent to my Bank account to spend on anything i want.

    Lostsoul25,

If you'd pressed the customer services person, she'd have given you back ALL your late fee, ALL the interest and STOPPED interest on the next statement! :j Virgin want to keep your custom, so they'll bend over backwards if you've just done a big BT.

Well, I received the Capital One card and have now activated it but I'm still not in receipt of any revised terms despite their assurances that these would be posted and that I now have interest free balance transfers and interest free purchases till Sept 09 (instead of March 09).

I rang Capital One again and spoke with a different customer services rep who confirmed the account is definitely now showing interest free till Sept 09 and told me he was sending me the account terms... but still nothing through the post!

    Frustrating.

I had the same problem with Capital One. I will never be applying for one of their cards again, it's just a total waste of a credit search.

As a footnote, just been approved for MBNA and Virgin (12k and 9.9k limits respectively) which, if added to my existing MBNA limit makes a total of a 37k limit!

    Credit crunch, what credit crunch!
