contract with Virgin Mobile

Wondering if anybody has any advice on what to do when not using allocated minutes each month, I want to lower my tariff but virgin mobile have said Ican't do this, I currently pay £25 a month and Im not even close to using my credits each month, I spoke to somebody about this and they said that I have a month at the end of the contract to use up the minutes otherwise I will loose them, I took the phone looking towards setting up my own business this year thinking then I would use the amount of minutes but I haven't.
What I don't understand is I am trying to lower my tariff so I don't end up loosing all the time next year and before people say I should have read the terms and conditions I know this but it's one of those things that so many of us don't do.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
