What sells best on ebay?

  • Echo whoever said stick with what you know! What your hobby or interests are.

Then you can talk about your item confidently, you know what aspects of it will particularly appeal as presumably you know why you bought it in the first place!

E.G. I have been a horse rider for a couple of years now so many of my introductory level horse and riding books are no longer useful. I took care of them and learned from them and promote them for what I got out of them and clearly explain why they are no longer required. As a horse person I know exactly where such a person will expect to find the items and can post them in the appropriate section for maximum viewing and bids.

Knowing your way around Ebay and how to sell in an auction is key. Practice makes perfect! My auctions do better and better every time I sell now.
When you're going through Hell, Keep going!
If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs, then you probably haven't understood the seriousness of the situation
Just when you think human beings can't get any stupider, they get behind the wheel of a car...
Become eternally poor in one easy step- decide to love Horses...

I'm into sci-fi and have found collectable items go for a lot. If I sold my Star Trek collection, I could probably make thousands!

    .

Sci Fi is something I dabble in but the market is falling not growing. Anything bought from a dealer within the last 10 years will probably fetch about a quarter of what was paid, I've actually bought on ebay and sold at a convention and made a profit.

As you say autographs are a no no, at a convention you will usually pay £10 for an autograph from a main sci fi character, even with a Certificate of authenticity it would fetch about £2 on ebay. Every now and then though I get surprised by something, sold a Xena convention book signed by a number of the actors, but not the main two, got nearly £50 for that from an overseas buyer. I sold some Blake's 7 stuff for the 99p starting price but haven't sold Star Trek for ages.

I've always found that children's clothes sell well. They don't sell for much but they always sell.

I don't buy dvd's off ebay with rare exceptions - e-retailers often sell what I need for less.
You do? I am new to eBay and have bought a few DVDs for under £4 and I don't think you could buy them from anywhere that cheap (even though they are mostly used).
