Probaby being thick......but do I open the cash minder after BR? Depends some people do some open before BR if you decide before BR you must tell the OR and IF the account is frozen its easily opened again by the OR..although a fair few people have opened acc before BR with no problems at all...Will they still freeze account if just in OH's name? If your OH is going bankrupt then possibly...if not then the account wont be touched
I presume I'm right in thinking I have to state OH's wage as well? You have to list your OR contributions to the household expenses not really a need for wage listing
I have been doing DMP with Payplan which is no longer sustainable financially....[PayPlan actually not being much help.]...will this make any difference to my BR being considered?
Shouldnt do have you spoken to one of the debt helplines abouth this?

    Hope this Helps :D

Thanks for replies, have told PayPlan I intend to go BR.....Can't actually speak to them until wed., or thurs., at earliest as not allowd to make/recieve calls whilst at work.
Had a msg left from a lady fom PayPlan who my case manager had obviously passed my intentions on to....couldnt make out all she said but I gather she deals with BR.
Going to get advice from them, CAB, CCCS and NDH.....just to be sure.
I just can't believe my life has come to this!!!

You sound just like me about 3 weeks ago! A lot of soul searching and help from this site, but have almost completed my BR form and am seeing a Debt Specialist at the CAB tomorrow just to make sure it is all in order, then will make a Court appointment. Don't be too hard on yourself, you have had your LBM, this is the hardest point I think - the realisation, then trying to come to the right decision for you...but you will get lots of support from the people above and on this place. Keep posting and good luck! xx

I second Summers post, you will get loads of help from people on here.

Can I just say, please take advise from anyone other than Payplan, as I have an IVA with them and have had since 2005, due to ill health it is about to fail, and I am of the honest opinion the charity debt lines on here are far more likely to give you proper advice as they are not gaining anything from giving it to you.

I am waiting on Payplan to fail my IVA and then I intend to seek advice, have already phoned my court to see if they are one who book you in, or you just turn up pay and see the judge.

Skibadee, anyone here will tell you, we all wish it had not come to this, but somethings are not all our fault, or all in our control, but what you have done, is be positive and accept this may have to be the route you take, that light bulb moment can be painful, but once made the road can only get easier, yes hurdles to jump, forms to fill in, worries in your brain, sleepless nights, but there is light at the end of the tunnel and you just have to hold onto that light right now. which is exactly what I and others here are doing til we walk out the other end.

Thank you Rhylynn.....I have DMP with PayPlan which is no sustainable, part of the problem I've found with talking to PayPlan is my case manager is foreign [ I am by no means racist by the way ] and I sometimes find it difficult to understand what he is saying....the lady from Payplan who left msg re BR was also foreign...I feel awful saying that and in no way do I feel they are not doing their job to the best of their ability.
I suppose when you get this deep in debt etc., you feel your the only one and you've let yourself down [ well thats how I feel anyway ]......BUT......on another note surely it can't be any worse than being told you have cancer [ I was diagnosed in jan 04, currently in remission ]....can it????

Then from me and I am sure everyone here, we hope you stay in remission.

Payplan, no one I cant understand, just too many of them over 3 years have had at least 6 people taking CARE of me, that is the joke, if they were taking care of me they would have written to me 4 months ago and said NO payment the IVA will fail, they did not, in fact one month ago I was told could be suspended for another year, where is he now.. LEFT, no surprise there, today I get an I&E from them, what the heck.. after I phoned them Friday and was told would fail I still get this today, yes it may have crossed in the post to the phone call, but it should never have been posted if they had looked at the files.... so Payplan for me could not arrange a pee up in a brewery and I am very cross with them right now.

So please take the advice on here and go to the charity advisors, they are not out to take your money or make anything from you either.

I tell you what I am not racist either, but being fobbed off from pillar to post by BT with my BB over a year aog and ending up every night on the phone to someone in India, I told BT where to shove it, and it is no different, you do not have to be racist to have a problem with people who you cannot understand, even broad Irish does me in, and I am HALF Irish!

You know what, unless you are :A or saint we all let ourselves down, unless of course we have no expectations of ourselves, and many of those are put upon us, but what we should be, should do etc etc, at the end of the day we have to pull ourselves up by our boots and take a hard long look, then we have to deal with whatever it is, and I and others feel the same, I feel I let someone down, did not look hard enough, was totally bloody stupid, but at the end of the day it does not change where I am now, which is facing BR, for me right at this good moment before the depression seeps in I think okay bring it ON... as once it is over I will still be here so will my son, and yes we will have to budget but we have been since 2005.

I think you are very brave having had the cancer call, you now face this, I would think this will be a walk in the park by comparison, and I truely hope it is for you, stop blaming yourself, remember we have had a government for the past what 10 years chucking money our way! vote for Gordon NO THANKS... now the going gets tough, hell the tough get going.. that is you me and every one here.:T

Thank you Rylynn for a very supportive reply.
I hope you are managing to get something sorted with or without Payplan, intend to contact CCCS AND NDH and probably local CAB to get plenty of advice...I have had another msg today from lady at Payplan wanting me to ring her back about BR...even though I mailed my case manager last night and told him I cannot be contacted at work on mon or tue as work allday and will get in touch wed or thur when I work until 2pm.

I would say from what I have been told today, ring the other people, and get advice.

I have to sit and wait, skibadee for another few days then Payplan will wish they never heard my name.

Go to the other advice people tell them everything they have nothing to gain from you... Payplan are not the same, so please do not take there advice, I did which is why I am here now.. had I not I would have been BR in 2005.

And yes I am here with others to support you, as this is what this section is about. Now I have had a crapp day so I am gonna go to bed, and pray to sleep, and I hope you do as well.. you know you have faced more than us would ever want to even think about.. so dont let the Beggars beat you.

Why have Payplan not got a very good reputation in this field.....I was lead to believe they were a charity.....obviously not?
If I ask for my nam to be removed ftom joint account [ bank with co-operative at the moment ] will they not think it funny....or is it best to be honest with them as to reason why?
What do I do next besides ring others for advice?
    Ring court?
