Halifax student account - application declined
Comments
-
I am a mature student who has repaid several car loans, credit cards and even made mortgage payments, within the course of my pre-student life. And without any possible black-marks.
However, I do not currently have any income during this student period in my life. I saved up for this holiday in advance. Consequently, I was wondering wehther the computer would discriminate against me. Or just plainly not trust me.
It was therefore not surprising that I was declined the Student Overdraft Account, both online and initially in the local branch. The computer apparently does not give reasons. It just says 'no'.
But the very helpful gentleman who served me at the branch circumnavigated this inconvenience by simply applying for just a normal bank account first, and then subsequently upgrading it to a student account once it had first been successfully opened.
Apparently, the reason for the computer often declining a student account is due to the cheque guarantee card which comes with the student account by default. That's right, a feature which barely any student, or normal adult, will ever use.
So I hope this helps anyone else who has experienced similar problems with receiving approval for a Halifax student account, when they know that there credit is really easily good enough.
Try opening a normal Halifax account, and then upgrading to student 'status' from that.0
