Tesco Mobile Pay as you Go

Can anyone comment about how good (or bad) Tesco is as a mobile phone provider?

On the face of it, it appears quite a good offer for someone like me who is on 02 PAYG, and I spend on average 15 pound per month on top ups. The fee:

20 per minute any uk mobile
20 per minute any UK Landline
10 per text

but you can nominate any three numbers (Mobile or land) and the charges are:

10 per minute any uk mobile
10 per minute any UK Landline
5 per text

Unlimited voucher length, but you must top up at least once every 6 months.

There are a number of good offers on for mobile handsets, ranging from £40 and upwards, including a camera phone for £80.

It is possible to transfer my old number from my O2 handset (thank grief - need it for my business). But before I commit myself to this offer, I would like your thoughts.

Does anyone have any comments on Tesco mobile, for example coverage (I live in Coventry, and travel throughout the West Midlands), how good/bad the charges are, etc?

Thanks!

If you are spending £15 per month look into monthly contract deals offered with cash backs. the cost with lot more minutes will be less than £15 especially if u can go with three
  • The thing that put me off Tesco Mobile was the poor service offered by O2. If you're happy with O2 as a provider then you should be as happy with TM. For me, getting "number unobtainable" tones when trying to make calls was unacceptable, I need my phone to work.
    something missing
  • After coming out of my t-mobile contract early (thanks moneysavingexpert) I chose to port my number from t-mobile to tesco.

No problem porting, service fine.Good for low usage.

if you're a text addict, you may be better with one of the free (see other threads) o2 sims (300 text, 300 mins wap per month for £10 of call top up a month).

Otherwise contract would be better as mentioned.
