    why can't you read capital letters?

    Because capitalising is the forum equivalent of shouting so the forum automatically adjusts it to first letter capitalisation. And readability isn't about the ability to read but style of writing to make it easier to read. In the same way that lack of punctuation makes it more of a strain to read.

    Capital letters are harder to read, because as you read you don't look at each individual letter, you look at the shape of the word as a whole. Capital letters force you to read each letter, thus slowing down the reading process. People often mistakenly put things in capital letters on posters and the like in the belief that it will make it stand out and improve its readability, when in fact it has the opposite effect. The same goes for centred text (as your eye has to look for the beginning of each line).
