Hi
I wanted to buy a pressie for my husband and know he wants a ipod. Im confused which one to get as I was waiting for the nano but have read that it scratches easily. Is there any difference (except from the size) between the nano and the original? Is the original better value?
He mainly wants it to play in the car, also how does this work in the car?
Many Thanks

Hi I posted earleir in thread last week for same thing- I have ended up buying hubby a Creation Zen Micro - slightly cheaper than an Ipod, replacable battery for a fraction of the price than ipods( watchdog done article on ipods last week) and the sound quality is brilliant. I got it from Costco - 5Gb for £132, includes free assesories worth £30 too. I have ordered Belkin Transmitter from well for £18 - free postage from the states. If you want any firther info pm me.No Longer addicted to Boots! - Well not today anyway!! :blushing:

do him a favour and dont get an ipod, there are better cheaper devices out there - style vs content and all that. Or maybe your husband is a bit of a poser (arent most of us guys?:P ) in which case get it for him
!
Edit: hehe someone above already said similar - yep I have a micro Zen too - love it.0 -
If you look on the apple website, there is a page about accessories for ipods, I think I am right in thinking the Nano does NOT yet have an option to use in the car by using Itrip or similar devices.
Good luck with the present!!0 -

The Nano is much smaller. It's basically the size of a credit card (but 5 cards in thickness). The Nano has gained some bad press recently, but was apparently down to a bad batch and Apple are replacing them.
The original iPod however, will store a lot more music, around 10x more (depending which size of iPod and Nano you have).
I would go for the Nano, as I'm on the tube most days and don't like having my pockets full. Your OH may prefer the iPod if he's using it in the car though. Best thing is to go to a shop and play around with one see what it's like. There are a lot of people that'll tell you to get something cheaper, but in terms of ergonomics (good size, the brilliant "scroll" wheel etc...) and aesthetics the iPod is one of the best."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Don't go near the Ipod Nano http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4286294.stm0

I liked the bit where they concluded the sticky glue-like substance was probably glue.0 -

Yep I was ROFLMAO at that bit :rotfl:****************************0 -
Yeah, you can usually get a player with better features for cheaper than an iPod. Also, I've found that my sister's iPod has a habit of randomly deleting songs, and transferring music onto it can be annoying.0
