snow_queen,
I would suggest you go back to the CAB and ask them to do a "better off calculation" and give them details of your situation. They can advise where you stand working under 16 hours or over. You can then decide which is best for you.
I suggest you make a list of things you want them to tell you, eg. 1) mortgage situation, 2)Income Support, 3) Tax Credits 4) Council Tax 5) Divorce and Seperation 6) Mediation 7) Children info in your area (or whatever you need to find out about).
If you claim Income Support the CSA is automatically contacted, it is nothing to do with whether or not you are still amicable.
As this is all so fresh, you probably need someone to talk to about it - are you able to chat to family and friends about the seperation? There might be a support group in your area? It is a confusing time as there is everything to think about all at once.Torgwen.....................

snow queen .. i had to go onto benefits when i speparated now divorced and as said above the csa get involved.. i had a long battle with them to get them to leave him alone as like you he was paying the morgage but he couldnt do that and pay what they were asking .. i got my doctor involved because of the stress and upset the csa were causing that seemed to do the trick and now they dont hassle either of us.. but that only sticks as long as he pays the morgage if he defaults on that the csa will get involved again... my argument with them was that they were hassling him for money when he was paying to keep a roof over his childs head..Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,

thank you all for your sipport
I have decided that going the WTC will work out more for me at approx £101 per week, then I get to keep my wages too - please tell me if I am wrong? and hubby will continue to pay the mortgage.
I still have this appt at the DWP on the 29th which Im dreading as I really dont want CSA involved.
Will i be entitled to anything else? do I need to still go to the DWP?
ThanksThank you0 -
Hiya
Me again! Hubby has now decided he will only pay what he HAS too and that I must go through the CSA which I really didnt want.
Spent the whole of yesterday in tears as I just dont know how Im going to cope and keep a roof over my headThank you0 -
Hi snow_queen,
I would suggest another visit to CAB and ask them all the questions you have (as I outlined in previous post). It really helps if someone else looks at your situation and they can advise for all aspects of your situation.
If your husband is "only going to pay what he has to", then you will have to go to CSA to sort this out as you have to think of yourself and your child.
If you can get to the CAB again before your DWP appointment you should understand your situation better.
Don't be disheartened, it is complicated to sort out but you have a lot of support here if you need it.Torgwen.....................

Hi Snowqueen,
I thought it would be easier to bring this thread back up because by starting a new thread you will perhaps get repeat info.
Did you go to CAB or get further advice on your situation?
How did your DWP appointment go? What are you claiming in terms of benefits?
Faxing your MP as Ted suggests on the other thread is a good idea.Torgwen.....................

Thank you! Im just at the end of my tether.
I didnt need to go to the DWP after all as I m not claiming income support. I sent my council tax claim form off on 19th november and have heard nothing. rung them end of nov and they said they recieved it. heard nothing since. rang today and their system is down.
They cant even sort my 25% descount thing properly
Its the tax credits one thats worrying me so much - i just want it conformed HOW MUCH and WHEN! In a week??? a month???? a year?????
I cant go on like this and nobody will help meThank you0 -
hiya
i have just rung council tax benefit to chase this and they said they need to see bank statements. My dad very kindly gives me £100 a week into my bank account. My dad said this cant count as its a "gift" - is this income i should declare for tax credits or anything?Thank you0
