Olhus D'agua is a quite resort with a nice beach, or it was a few years ago.

Yes yes, would agree with that - we've got friends that live there! x

We went for the first time in May and it was lovely we stayed between the old and new town in albufiera at the Paladim apartments - hotel was friendly really clean and cheap but was quite large.

The old town was really pretty and although there was nightlife there it tended to be more local or slightly older people so not too loud. The new town was busy and full of people.

Not that close to the beach but the little train that runs about every half an hour from the old to new town (both with nice beaches) via just outside the hotel was cheap enough, ran quite late and saved our legs.

Hope you have a lovely time wherever you go xx

    Another vote for Albufeira.

Stayed at an aparthotel at the top of the hill in the middle of the strip and the old town - the Brisa Sol.Tthey are great self catering apartments within a really nice hotel.

The road train stops literally outside for travelling around which is really great!!!!

Avoid the other end of town - the Strip end. It's noisy in summer - it's a row or pubs and pretty deserted in the winter.

The old town is wonderful with a nice beach and the 'maze' of shops . The only downside to the hotel is the hill back up to it.

The Sol e Mar could be a possibility in Albufeira, it's right on the beach and mid sized.

    Never stayed there though.

Just got back from Lagos again - beautiful beaches, good food, nice in the evening to just have a stroll in the old town, or the marina (where we stayed) and lots of self catering accommodation in area, and we did airport to apartment in just under the hour - very good roads. Any more info - let me know.

Sorry, - wasnt trying to imply that I knew better than you do - that's just the amount of time it took on Tuesday morning - might be more on other days/times.
