My V reg Megan had a new gear box and clutch last year and has been serviced. During the last few months it has started juddering a bit in 1st gear when pulling away (as if I wasn't given it sufficient revs). It only does it for the first 5 mins or so of the first useage of the day. I'm just hoping it isn't anything dire:eek: Any ideas please?

ps I've had the car for approx 18months and it had high mileage when I bought it.

It certainly only happens when the engine is cold but more revs don't improve it.

Is that a terrible problem? Will it get worse and worse? (So mechanically ignorant, sorry:o )

    Petrol or diesel?

Could be the airmass assembly, had similar about 2 years ago. Take it to a decent garage and have them look at it. The AA have some diagnostic software but couldn't tell for sure what the problem was. If you don't fix it it could b*gg*r up your cat and that's expensive.

There is a common problem with renaults around this reg with the hose to the map sensor developing cracks in the rubber through age with simptons simular to yours.

I had the same problem - the juddering was very of putting, at first I didn't see any cracks, but when I took the pipe of it was clear there were cracks and they were bad.

links below show you where to look for the pipe, if it's cracks you can order a new one from renault for around £8. Taping round the cracks in the pipe will help while you wait for the new on but it's a short-term fix
