Nah... she can't afford the petrol can she?poppyolivia wrote: »But if you ignore her, she knows where you live...?????? She might come round to speak to you?????
I would not retract any refund offer already made, but would just tell her that returning the bike is her problem if she wants a full refund, otherwise she can accept a part refund and keep it for spares or whatever. I would also put a disclaimer on any ads for things like vintage bikes, saying that it's sold "as seen" and though the only defects I was aware of had been pointed out, it's up to the buyer to inspect it.0 -
GRRRR!!! The saga continues!!
Sorry to bump this thread again, but I've just had a letter through the post from the disgruntled bike purchaser, saying that I've been reported to Trading Standards, and if I don't collect the bike from her and pay her £72 + £17.94 petrol money within 14 days, she's going to start charging me for the storage of the bike as well! I've contacted Consumer Direct too, who listened to my original ebay ad and advised me to challenge her claim of mis-description. They also told me that the only person who could force me to refund her is a judge. I just can't believe the lengths this woman is going to, especially as if she hadn't asked for petrol money in the first place she could have had her £72 refund no questions asked!!
Thanks for letting me vent!!

Trading Standards? Lol, brilliant. It was a private sale, not a lot Trading Standards can, or will do.
Do you have a link to the original ad?0 -

Put her email address in your spam filter and ignore her. Put any non-tracked letters into the bin. Do not sign for any letter that you think is from her.0

Trading standards?!
My God, the woman is in cloud cuckoo land!!
You're not a business, just someone who wanted to get shot of an old ruddy bike!
Let her go as far as she wants, she'll be the one with egg on her face at the end of it all.

Definitely do not refund anything, even if she scrapes together enough money to return it. She's nuts!
(Or, as a solution to her petrol crisis, you might offer to refund but only if she manages to cycle all the way
). 0 -
charging you for storage?!
its her bike!
just ignore the mad woman!0 -
Consumers can only contact trading standards through consumer direct nowadays - and you've already contacted consumer direct yourself.
I very much doubt that Consumer Direct would forward the issue to Trading Standards because it's not a Trading Standards issue - it's a one off dispute regarding a private sale.
Ignore the silly woman, her silly claims for a refund and about storage and her silly ideas about TS.
If you want to play her silly games you could always inform her that you will be charging for each piece of correspondence you receive from her and another charge for any you need to respond to :rotfl:"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Thanks to you all for your advice, you're all fab!
She's opened a "significantly not as described" dispute. I'm going to let her know that ebay can't do anything else to get her money back and suggest that she accepts my partial refund. I don't care if she manages to get my ebay account suspended (worst case scenario), as this experience has well and truly put me off the blinkin' thing anyway!!
I wouldn't. I'd suggest stop all contact, let ebay decide and what ever the outcome you won't have to give her an penny. When she finds this out she'll have to beg for anything she can get, then its up to you whether you give it.
If I was you, that wouldn't be a penny.0
