To do that the OP has to buy a copy of XP, there are no downgrade rights with Vista Basic. Also it won't fix it. The machine they have now meets the minimum specs but to get any sort of decent performance out of a game you need to be at or near the recommended. Even if they install XP they'll still not be near the recommended specs so any improvement under XP will be marginal.
It's common knowledge that using the same hardware a game will run slightly better under XP but I'd be amazed if it made a massive difference in this case.It's my problem, it's my problem
