A box of bags last me a year or more and because of the way they seal themselves as you remove them Im more then happy to pay for that then have the dust and dirt blow back over me and the house as happened when emptying the dyson. You can if you really need to empty a bag and re use and sometimes I will delve in and pick out any large bits that are causing the vacuum to think the bag is full

Flimsy - the top cover that hides all the attachments is a bit flimsy as in it sometimes comes off completely (think its a design fault)But it clips right back in no problem. Everything else about it is very robust, gets dragged around everywhere, fallen down the stairs a few times and is often being dragged across the gravel drive to clean the cars

Storage wise, I dont find it a problem as the hose and wand connect to the body and it just tucks away nicely
  • We have 2 doggies who are constantly moulting. Our Dyson DC04 (which we managed to get free) works great after replacing the belt. Mind you, in an ideal world we'd be hoovering every other day to keep the house looking clean.

thank you all for your thoughts, I descided to get a new belt for the Dyson and see if it helps. I got it through a cashback site so should get 9% back

It's also worth checking if the underside is clogged with hair, might explain why it's not picking it up.

Once again I would say if cost is not the problem then you cannot beat a Kirby. I have a black lab and cream carpets and it works effortlessly every time. But it is expensive initially, however I have had it for 19 years so it has paid for itself.
