I hope not, I've not planted mine yet! The allotment is too full of weeds with all the rain & sun.
The variety I've got, Autumn King, indicate they can be sown direct until June.

A good few weeks yet. I am sowing a few at 2 weekly intervals to hopefully get a steady crop0

Thanks. Thats a relief. I began to think we'd waited too long. Not grown carrots before and thought we'd do the little dumpy ones in containers.Mary

I'm sure you can still plant in June. The children at my school were celebrating 'Carrot Day' on Wednesday and were all given a free packet of carrot seeds to take home and plant

I've read it's possible to grow carrots in containers, I have a large tub, about 20 inches high, would this be big enough? Its about 20 inches in diameter too, could I try more than one carrot in this tub? I'm only doing this for fun by the way, not so that I never have to buy a carrot again

Got my carrot seeds !! Packet of Royal Chantenay........they look fairly small on the packet so hope they'll be ok.
helpinghubby - we're planting ours in containers......not sure how OH will work it our yet but we've got some medium sized pots -bout 18 inches across I think and the seed packet says it contains average of 1500 seeds !!
Says ''sow thinly in rows 12 inches apart.............not sure how they're planted in a container as far as the spacing out goes as we've not done them before.
Spinach OH planted yesterday is already coming through !!!Mary

Really glad you asked about this:T I've got some carrot seeds that I bought late last year, but only remembering I'd got them just a few days ago, I thought I'd long missed the planting time.
I too, will be planting them in large tubs, as I have no garden (just a back yard).
Please can anyone tell me what compost to buy for them? Is there a different kind for fruit and veg, or will any multipurpose compost do?
