I have 2 homes, and cook equally as much in the London property as I do at home. ;)

Good for you, its a shame more people don't!

I really wouldn't though. The london place would e for DH to get to work from (he gets three meals a day at work) and for me to occasionally visit. In my little fantasy of our future life I wil be in London soley for socialising, (I do miss my London -only chums) shopping :o and culture breaks :D I'm not going their to make jam in an open plan kitchen, not when, in my dream-I have a huge country kitchen :rotfl: :rotfl: (admittedly there will be a sofa in there for the dogs  )

I wasn't sure about open plan at first, but now I'd hate going back to having a separate kitchen!

We had a separate kitchen in the last flat we rented, and I got fed up being isolated whilst cooking, whist everyone else was in the lounge having fun. Now I tend to cook more elaborate things as I don't have to leave the room to tend to pans etc...
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

If I am frying sausages, I want to be able to do that while watching the TV. So open plan would work for me, depending on where the cooker is compared to a window and if there's an extractor hood.

At the moment I live in a studio, so a sofabed in a small living room with a kitchen off it (no door). So I can only fry sausages when I can have all the windows open (not winter) and when I've not got my washing drying (takes 3 days).

So long as there's good extraction/window openings, it can be OK.

I had a separate kitchen once before and I was loathe to go and cook in there as you have to stand and watch things cooking instead of relaxing/watching TV.

What I want, eventually, is a big kitchen/dining room so we can sit in it and chat and listen to the radio and all those sort of things while cooking.

At the moment we are in a flat with an open plan kitchen/sitting room, and it's not bad so long as you don't cook fish too often, but one day I would like to be able to close the door on the washing up when we have friends round.

I really like it. It means I can go about my normal stuff whilst also keeping one eye on dinner, or make a cup of tea without leaving my guests. The only time it's annoying is when the washing machine is spinning and you want to watch tv.

Would ideally like an open plan kitchen diner but not kitchen lounge. Haven't got either in the house we are moving to though.

We put the dog in the kitchen when we are out, don't really want him taking to sneaking on to the sofa when we aren't there!

If I didn't have a dog I wouldn't mind so much, but I do like to shut the door on the washing machine. OH currently does the washing up with the stereo on in the kitchen and sings along to it, so I am glad I can shut the door on him too.

Oh and also we need somewhere to shut the dog away when people come over who prefer not to have 10 stone of dog trying to cuddle them.

Yes Lilly, those reasons are all valid in my household too.

We eat fish once a week on average (sometimes more) but cabbage, yikes, that stnks, and I love cabbage so we have that often (I was going to type regularly then thought betteer of it).

We used to entertain a lot too, I really miss it (do it less when living with parents for obvious reasons) but we are I guess quite formal and prefer a dining room...when and I'm entertaining I don't want stacks of dishes behind me nor do I want to do the washing up talking to people, worrying my hair is frizzing up- somethings are just private, lol.

An eat in kitchen is for best chums and family or at a push breakfast for me, but thats what makes us all different!

I've never entertained, nor been entertained.
Yes, I must be the only person in the UK who has never been invited to a dinner party (and never had one).

So I guess entertainers might not want their guests seeing them opening the chilled packs and nuking them!
