Nationwide - Trying to get an additional cardholder..

.. Is apparently like trying to get blood from stone. I filled in the form 2 weeks ago and returned it via the branch (to make sure it was received!) and still have heard nothing. Their call centre excuse is 'there may be a backlog', I asked if there was any information about it on the system and she said no. So I said kindly send me another form because my partner is going away on 2nd July and we need this card by then!!

Is there any way I can do it online (like I can with all my other cards!!) or should I just try applying for a brand new card (Abbey Zero or Post Office) for my partner to use whilst he's in Bulgaria for SIX weeks (So will definitely need to have at least some kind of backup, he's only a student and thus can't apply for a card himself on his measly income of £3000 a year)?

I couldn't see anything in the online banking system.

Have you called the credit card service line?

I don't recall having to fill in a form as the responsibility still lies with yourself to ensure the bill is paid as the main cardholder.

Although it is not totally related to your question the answer to this would help verify what type of information lenders are taking before issuing additional cards these days.

When you got the application form, did it ask for alot of personal details as if it was almost a full application and state a search would be carried out. Or was it just name, date of birth and sign here please.

    Cheers

Name, DoB and address... I had to sign and he did too. But we've not even had a 'decline' saying I can't add him, just nothing :(

I did call the credit card services line, that is the person I spoke to in the call centre who said there may be this mysterious 'backlog'

Try a Post Office credit card. They are super quick. I applied on Sunday, got the PIN on Tuesday and the card on Friday.

Doesn't look like I am going to have much luck with Post Office, they will let me know of the decision within 5 working days :(

Do you think I should try Abbey Zero as well tonight? If I can get one of these I will cancel my Nationwide one (bad customer service when trying to add a cardholder)

They said that to me. Got the PIN number two days later.

How strange! Wish me luck. Phoned nationwide again and said 'look, can't I give you these details over the phone, all my other CC providers allow me to do an additional cardholder over the internet...'. No luck, guess they know I am not exactly spoiled for choice.

Oh crap I just realised I didn't ask for an additional cardholder.. I don't remember that option on the form! I will phone Post Office tomorrow and ask if there's a decision yet, and if so, can I add a cardholder. Aaah I am so stupid!
