    Rates are Nationwide are quite good, not the best though. Look at a few comparison websites for details.
    From my personal experience Nationwide has one of the worst admin systems I've ever come across. Indeed, look at http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=11491011&posted=1#post11491011

    Thanks for the feedback. It definitely seems that some companies just can't cope with processing their accounts (e.g. Abbey etc.).

    I had minor problems with Birmingham Midshires when a bond matured this year and it does leave you with a poor impression of the company even if it is fixed eventually !

    Rather than just chasing the highest rate I now try and consider the following factors:-

    * Financial Position of the Company (& Country).
    * Interest Rate.
    * Simplicity/Fairness of Account Terms (e.g. Break terms for Fixed Rate Bonds, Paying Interest to another account).
    * Status re: FSCS (i.e. Passport or No Passport).
    * Quality of Customer Service.
    * Quality of Online Services.

    I'm tired of having to sort out any problems and chase people to do their job properly so good customer service counts for a lot with me.

    Thanks.

    I have fixed rate accounts with Nationwide, Chelsea and Skipton, for some of the reasons you mention above, and I'm delighted with all three and haven't had any problems with any of them. :j
