E-ON have now told me over the phone that they will honour the V14 which I originally applied for, and that when the account is live (that is after I've supplied the meter reading when so requested), it will be switched. That seems to be the route suggested by dellxps, so i just hope the Quico payment is going to be OK.

I have to say that although I was not too pleased about getting put on the wrong tariff, I have so far been quite impressed with the call centre staff who actually seem to be interested in sorting things out, and who call back when they say they will. Can't say that for many of these outfits. If it all turns out OK I'll award them a gold star!

If is of any use I was quoted the following for V14 capped for S.Wales CF postcode. Glad to hear they are honouring original deal.
    EON Dual Fuel V14 – fixed to 1.10.2009 :

    Gas (first 2680kw x 4.661 + rest at 2.971 )

    Elec (first 900kw x 20.79 + rest at 12.06 )

I followed Martin's advice about December 2007 time to change to a capped but decided to go for best tarriff with existing supplier which came up as a v14 combined fuel one fixed to October 2009.

When I rang EON they told me it was called a something 5 but was definitely the same deal and confirmed when I asked that the rate was fixed until October 2009. I was so pleased with myself that I put up with online billing and even told family and friends what a good deal it was.

In today's post they now tell me prices are going up from 1st June 2008! Does anyone know what is going on and what I should do?

They must have a guilty conscience because they are giving 500 Tesco clubcard points with the bad news.

it sounds like the tariff you went onto was the energy online extra saver tariff version 5 which was 1st available in feb 2008 at the time of the last price increase. the previous v4 tariff went up in price so in order to stay top of the comparison sites v5 was introduced and then withdrawn after about 6 weeks.

by going onto v5 you avoided the feb price increase.this has now been increased to what you would have paid in feb 08.

i work for eon and went on the v5 electric version to also avoid the increase and have recieved the same letter.

in my honest opinion they should have sent letters out before this rise took place so people could change if they wanted, but it seems they only told customers when they did so that it would be too late for people to move onto the cheaper version of the capped tariff as the price of capped went up a couple of days before the online price changed.

and the tesco points have only been given to act as a sweetner to see if it helps customers to stay with eon.

when you realise it only amounts to a fiver they might as well have not bothered.

Finally got round to complaining but not sure whether to take it further as up to now I have been paying at a lower tariff than the V14 I applied for on both gas and electric and will still be lower with this increase. The gamble is that is now only guaranteed to April 2009 rather than October 2009. I'm sure I'll end up paying through the nose come April but I do like my Tesco clubcard vouchers!

After chnaging my bank details online and on phone and it not collecting under the direct debit I rang EON again. My combined gas/electric has gone from down from £156 pcm Feb 08 to £118 March 08 to £131 April 08-July 08 and I am still overpaid without them taking out August and September's and yet they recalculated to £157 so I am back where I started despite them telling me I was better off on the V5 and it having recalculated to £101 when I checked my new bank details were online.

For me a £46 increase when I was supposed to be fixed until October 09 (applied for the V14) was arise too far and I rang to complain. She told me that they record every call now so I told her that I had specifically asked during the call for assurance that the alternative they offered was also guaranteed to October 09 - got a call back today - they will back-date to Feb 08 and I now have the fixed rate to October 09 which I had applied for :T Yay! Persist fellow aggreived people, it may save you a fortune!
