E-ON gave me the wrong tariff

I decided to go for their Price Protection 2009 tariff - price fixed to, I think, 1st October 2009, although it might have been 1st September. I did this online through Quidco on 28th May, and all seemed to be OK, tracked at £55.
Today I got the confirmation by post thanking me for choosing their EnergyGuarantee 5 plan! I know I didn't select that one.
Having read on a thread here that the tariff on the Price Protection 2009 changed on 2nd June from V14 to V15, I rang and spoke to an "advisor" (!). He said that he could change me to the current V15 plan straight away, but would need to speak to another team to find out what the V14 tariff was if I still wanted that. They had gone home, so he's ringing me back tomorrow.
I was just wondering whether anybody could tell me what the V14 tariff was, so I can check that he's being truthful if he comes back and says there's little difference! I don't know if it varies by region; I live in Wiltshire.

Go to energyhelpline.com choose e.on as your current supplier and as your current tariff choose price protection 2009 pre june 2008. Make up all the figures. when it's done the comparison, at the top of the page it should say something like, "details of your current tariff". this should have the unit prices of the price protection v14 for your area and you can compare against what he gives you.

    Hi Bartman
Yes this happened to me on Monday 2nd. I was already with EON on line account and reading various posts I decided to change online. I am sure that I opted for the capped rate until Sept 2009 but got a confirmation letter thanking me for thanking me for choosing their EnergyGuarantee 5 plan.
I rang them up and they said they would change me to the capped rate, but I do not know which version. Will you please let everybody know which version you are on, the advisor said theat I will be getting a letter to confirm the new tariff.

    Hi loco,

if you did the switch before 2nd June you should be on version 14 (cheaper). If the switch was done on or after the 2nd june you will be on version 15.

V14 is superseded so it's probably been removed from the comparison sites (certainly removed as an option I can transfer to within EON).

But just happened to copy the figures the other day - as I was looking for a capped tariff in place of EON V5. These are for Yorkshire - but will be in the ball park for your area :-

    EON Dual Fuel V14 – fixed to 1.10.2009 :

    Gas (first 2680kw x 4.661 + rest at 2.971 )
    Elec (first 900kw x 18.61 + rest at 10.41 )

    .

The Guarantee5 plan is to Sept 2009! It's not 'capped' as such - other than in relation to BG prices, as quote from their site in respect of that tariff :-
We guarantee to keep our electricity and gas prices cheaper than British Gas until 1 September 2009

Problem with EON is they have more tariffs than enough. Guaranteed only to confuse!

Thanks, dellxps. Done that, so now I'm fully armed. I'll post again to let others know what they've offered me.
I just hope that whatever they do it won't affect the validation of the £55 on Quidco!
    [edit]
Just in case anybody else needs the figures, the unit costs I've obtained for V14 Southern region are: Gas - first 670 kWh @ 4.661, then 2.970 thereafter
    Electricity - first 225 kWh @ 18.564, then 10.637 thereafter.
Not that different from your figures, Mikeyorks - thanks for posting.

    Bartman,
I work for eon so one thing to watch out for- make sure he doesn't just cancel the current quote and requote you on price protection.this will mean you lose out on the quidco money. Ask him to change the tariff once your account is 'live' and bacdate the tariff to when you switched over. This will be the longer way round because it can be upto a month after switchover that the account goes live but atleast you'll get your money!

    Hi dellxps,
I received the letter confirming the wrong tariff on the 2nd June and rang that day to be put on the correct capped tariff which they did. If it is on the higher rate is there anything I can do about it? Thanks

if you have been put on the wrong version you should be able to ring up and ask them to speak to the tariffs team who should be able to automatically correct it for you.

    Hi loco

as gerrardfan says it can be rectified. Seeing that you recieved the letter on the 2nd june means that the physical switching of tariff was done before that date, therefore you should be on version 14. If you've been put on version 15 phone up and ask for this to be sorted.
