Hi,
i found some ghd's on a couple of websites, but am unsure if these are real as they are really cheap.
Was just wondering if people knew if these websites were legit?
ghd-outlet2
pureghd
both amazing prices between £46 - £60
Is this too good to be true? As they also say 'ghd approved online retailer'
Many thanks,
Kirsty
If your worried- send an email to GHD or call them, I would, its your money and to me, its still alot of money (ie more then enough to concern me if I lost it to fakes!)0 -
Ah thats a really good idea. Definately dont want to spend and waste money.
Thank-you!

BUMP!
Any updates?
Kibrma any news on how legitimate those sites are? There are quite a few websites that are offering the ghd between 40 and 60 quid...however whether they are legitimate or not, many have failed to come back with news on..
thanks again in advance!0 -
Counterfeit Information.
Here is some information which I hope you find helpful when deciding who to purchase your ghd products from.
Counterfeits.
Beware Counterfeit ghds for sale on Ebay and the web.
To be entirely sure that the ghd styler that you are purchasing is genuine, only purchase from approved ghd online retailers and salons. There is currently a large number of unauthorised web sites currently offering very low cost fake ghd stylers.
These counterfeit stylers are not manufactured by ghd. Not only are these stylers fake, they are cheaply made and shipped from china, ghd do not manufacture or retail any products from China.
• Counterfeit hair irons do not have the same level of safety or performance as the original ghd styler.
• Under no circumstances will ghd honour the 2 year warranty on any counterfeit product.
• Counterfeit stylers do not meet with the European electrical safety legistlations and may in fact be a danger to your health and could cause electrocution, serious burns or hair damage. Unsafe electrical items may also cause dangerous electrical fires.
How to spot a fake ghd website.
• Only Approved ghd retailers have a live ghd ‘click to verify’ link on their website pages. This is unique to genuine ghd approved online retailers. Do not purchase from any website that does not have this live link, showing todays date and linking direct to ghd’s own website for verification.• The current batch of fake web sites may look as though they are genuine ghd websites, and can be difficult to initially spot.
• A high number of these sites appear and disappear daily.
• In a high number of cases, goods are not dispatched from these websites and their customers are left with no means to track their purchase.
• The first thing to check is the sellers contact details. If they dont have a UK based telephone number and mailing address, chances are they are a fake website.
• If there is no telephone number or customer service number, again beware.
• If the styler is going to be shipped from the Far East e.g. China or Hong Kong or the shipping time is more than 2 or 3 days, it is likely to be a fake product. Approved UK ghd retailers such as ghd2u.co.uk , always offer next working day delivery.
• Finally and most importantly if the price looks too good to be true, chances are it is. If they are offering £120 + stylers for only £50 or £60 again the offer will be too good to be true0 -
Also, some basic questions to ask when checking to purchase a GHD:Does the LED flash when the iron is heated up to the correct temperature? (ghd irons DO)
Is there a little hook hole on the swivel cord to hang the iron up? (ghd irons DO NOT)
Does the hologram on the iron have the 15-character ghd Authenticity Verification Code? (ghd irons DO)
Does the hologram have a picture of an iron? (earlier ghd irons DO NOT) (ONLY APPLIES TO Mk3/3.1b/3.3 (Hot Pink)/SS3/Mini Styler as all ghd holograms on these 5 models bear a silhouette of the head of a female model with long, dark hair). The MkIV Styler hologram DOES contain a picture of an iron.
Update: Many fake ghd MkIV Stylers are now circulating. These do have a flashing LED. So dont isolate this check as a final decider.
Hope this helps!
So anyone manage to find any great GHD deals?0 -

Just to add- My mum has a pair of genuine GHDs, she got them when they first came out and only salon stylists were able to get hold of them (2002)
They don't have a hook, they don't flash when they are on (its a red on light, but does not flash) and I am not sure on the holigram.
They are still genuine, but they are just old. The fact they are still alive and kicking (used them on sunday and did my hair in no time- my mum uses them atleast once if not several times a week) and after so long (7 years!!) says it all really: you pay for the quality!
Just didn't want anyone to start to fear their GHDs are not genuine just because they are too old to be made with all the features mentioned above- I think my mums are MK1 or MK2 versions.0 -
JenniewbThanks for bringing that up - its true the above suggestions may not pertain to the earlier versions! I should have made it clearer it was suggested for the newer GHDs.Anyway, still looking, mostly hopeful, although admitedly somewhat impatient - anyone who suffers bad hair days more often than not will understand!0

RE: COUNTERFEITS:
GHD have an approved website checker here: http://www.ghdhair.com/beware-imitations/website-checker
It will tell you if they really are a GHD approved online retailer or not (just because they say they are on the website, that's pretty meaningless, esp the Hong Kong ones so best to double check here with the real GHD).
They also have a list of approved online retailers here:
http://www.ghdhair.com/customer-care/approved-online-retailers
And general tips on spotting counterfeits here:

hth,
pippitypip.I know I'm in my own little world, but it's ok - they know me here!0 -
Just seen Pink Kiss GHDs on Amazon for £91:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kiss-Pink-Limited-Styler-Straightener/dp/B001EO6POQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1248876310&sr=8-2
If they are within budget- enjoy!- but be quick- the Amazon offers seem to change (go back up in price) at an hourly rate!0 -
Ive been searching for the past week and a half on ebay to buy a pair of purple or baby pink ghd's. Just a word of warning that if you were looking to buy off ebay then, always ask the following questions:
1. Have they been bought in the UK?
(if they havent then you cannot use the code on the hologram to register it on the official ghd website for its warranty)
2. Have they been used at all?
(if you want brand new ghd's - always ask as some people might not say in their description)
Unfortunately I have pretty much asked every ebayer who's selling the pink or purple ghds to which they have said they dont know whether or not they have been bought in the UK or not. And because of this I will be buying from a reputable website
Im hoping to either buy the baby pink set from GirlzNight who have kindly given me a 10% discount for my birthday (have just emailed them - which is great) or from BeautyBay (which is slightly cheaper, but am waiting a reply for birthday discount).
So my advice is, always try to email websites kindly asking if they can do any sort of discount
Hope this all helps
Kirsty0
