If she is short of cash today she should have thought about having a booze up yesterday.

Pay up or throw her out of the window onto the railings below.

Blimey Cap'tn, I thought I could be a hard nosed b****, but you beat me hands down :rotfl:
  • Use the money from the deposit and ask for it to be replaced within a month.

I have this in my lodgers agreement:
At anytime during the term the owner may apply any part of the deposit to cover any reasonable costs incurred as a result of any breaches of his obligations by the lodger or other sums properly due to the owner, in which case the lodger shall upon demand pay by way of additional payment to the owner any additional payments needed to restore the full amount of the deposit.
Lets get this straight. Say my house is worth £100K, it drops £20K and I complain but I should not complain when I actually pay £200K via a mortgage:rolleyes:

I would suggest talking it through with her rather than issueing a summary judgement on her.

She sound like a reasonable human being, so why no treat her as such?
Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.

Simple. She caused the damage so she has to pay for it like now, not take it out of her deposit or any of that kakka. If she refuses then show her the door.

Can't see what the fuss is about.

Typical case of friendship getting in the way of business or perhaps the other way round now. Dodgy ground trying to keep both going if she takes offence.

"reasonable human beings" don't get lashed and flood the bathroom, then need to be told what to do about it.

Tell her to sling her hook.

    HELLO!!!!!

what is wrong with you people??

why do you just start assuming she's a kind of alcoholic monster ready to trash the place at any moment without any care in the world - and anyway short of cash (because of the boozing surely) - err... where does that all come from???

    Poor girl!
I've never been drunk in my life and i'm not impress by drunken behaviour but you're just all crazy with your assumptions.

Yes, she should pay now for the damages - and has to be told so.
well, let's just stop here and see what happens next (maybe she'll refuse bla blabla, let's just calm down and wait koksrob's update)

To keep it friendly, I'd mention to her that you've paid for the damages from her deposit - but she needs to top it back up again within a set period. I doubt, as long as you give her a payday between times she'll find much cause to argue, especially if it's only £100 or so.

    Bet we're right though...

We all slip from grace occasionally, even me, but the knack is putting right the mess without having to be asked.
