East Midlands Trains - it pays to complain
Options
I took a day trip to Nottingham. The section that was on East Midlands Trains was delayed by 1.5 hours on the outward journey and by nearly an hour on the return leg. I complained to East Midlands Trains and sent them my tickets. Incredibly, they refunded 100% of the ticket costs. They even refunded the sections of my journey that were on SouthWest Trains and on the tube, neither of which were their responsibility and neither of which had been delayed anyway.
So: it pays to complain!

Thing is I think your delays were exceptional and you're easily pleased
If that were me I'd have missed out on income as I only use EMTs for business, meeting clients who are billed by the hour. 2.5 hours would have lost me £150 in billable fees so I'd expect a much better offer than a refund!
Glad you got your refund though; it makes you realise what you get when you make the effort to follow things up!0 -
