It was £57 and they paid via Paypal. I was going to get them to sign a receipt of item when they came.

I think I will email them AGAIN and suggest that they need to collect it within 14 days. Thank you for your replies everyone. It's a pain in the bottom really as I want the SPACE!

Just a final pointer... the receipt counts for nothing if they later open a paypal dispute. No signed piece of paper, no photo of them collecting, nothing counts... except a tracking number.

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

It may not win the battle against paypal, but it would definitely help in winning the war in court should a buyer raise a false claim against the seller.

This wouldn't work as it will be obvious from the cost of the special delivery that the item being sent wasn't a large object but a piece of paper.

And how would anyone know what you paid for the Special Delivery?

Why bother refunding? Anyone raising a false Unpaid Item dispute will face possible suspension anyway. Sellers thinking about making false Unpaid Item reports may as well keep the money too.

Rubbish - I do it all the time against anyone who negs or neutrals me. eBay dont do jack.

Each strike issued gets us all closer to cleaning up the site of these time wasting bidders.

They can appeal it and unfortunately ebay usually remove the strike. Even if they completely ignored your T&C.

HOWEVER you can now report them on the feedback screen for ignoring your listing T&C (Malicious Bidding) - eBay log an infraction against them and its not checked - they have to get several before sellers can select to block them though.

However do it do everyone that negs or neutrals you and a) it will annoy them, and b) it will help to remove the complete !!!!!.

If they try and con you with a Paypal chargeback, just send a receipt by Special Delivery and quote the tracking #....

and just what is that going to get you, the buyer waits 7 days until after they've paid for and collected the goods and opens a dispute, you've already got no seller protection and then you answer the dispute with a special delivery tracking number which will shown it to have been posted after the dispute was raised.

Yup, if you felt like going to court over £57. Many wouldn't.

Yup, if you felt like going to court over £57. Many wouldn't.
But that's exactly what the small claims court was initially set up for.

I have no qualms with suing anyone in the small claims court for money I believe they owe me. The threat of immediately adding £25 or £30 (the filing fee) to the amount owed usually makes most wrongdoers see sense. If they continue to dispute matters, a further £25 hearing fee is added.

Very rarely does the matter actually get to court. Once it is explained in mediation that they are likely to be faced with a judgement against them that could amount to several hundred pounds (once expenses are added) over something that started out at just a few pounds, most amateur scammers see sense and pay back what they know does not belong to them including the £25/£30 filing fee rather than risk a judgement against them of several £100's, not to mention the possibilty of a CCJ recorded against them if the judgement is not settled in full within 28 days.

As you can probably tell, I've had to resort to this a few times in the past, and most were for original amounts considerably less than £57

Raising a small claims online is as easy as raising a paypal dispute.
