Item not collected .....

What's the SP on this please?

I sold a large garden toy. Seller paid almost immediately but then has arranged twice to come and collect it and never showed. It's now over a week since I last heard from them and over 4 weeks since I sold the thing!

I'm getting fed up with it in my garden as I want to replace it with something else.

What can I do? I've emailed them several times but no response.

If it was me I would refund them and relist it or offer a 2nd chance offer.

Hope it wasn't an expensive garden toy? Normally you ought only to take cash on collection, not payment in advance (unless it's cheque or bank transfer)

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Notify them that you will dispose of their property if not collected within a reasonable period. Say 60 days from sale. Also they cant neg you after 60 days from sale.

What is the time limit for a paypal chargeback?

Perhaps you can wait until after that before doing anything?

This wouldn't work as it will be obvious from the cost of the special delivery that the item being sent wasn't a large object but a piece of paper.

You'd probably end up in touble if you tried doing this.

    Why bother with 60 days?

Tell them that after a couple of failed collections you will dispose of in 14 days if not collected.

Refund it, open an Unpaid Item claim against them, relist it or do a second chance offer to the next highest bidder, as soon as the original buyer responds (if they ever respond) issue a strike and close the dispute.

Each strike issued gets us all closer to cleaning up the site of these time wasting bidders.

Why bother refunding? Anyone raising a false Unpaid Item dispute will face possible suspension anyway. Sellers thinking about making false Unpaid Item reports may as well keep the money too.
Note: Sellers who falsely report Unpaid Items may have all credits for the period in question reversed, lose the right to use the Final Value Fee Credit system for a period of time and/or be subject to suspension.
