One of my three accounts is held with Cahoot. It is internet based and give you a £250 free overdraft. Check the site out.0

All any financial company wants is to make money, through charges or sales. You can't win.
Well you can, but it takes effort.0 -

Smile - they are a brilliant online bank, had excellent service from them in the past 5 years, emails I send are dealt with very quickly and very efficient and helpful on the phone. Also they are part of the co-operative bank so very ethical in who they do business with (if that matters to you). 0 -

I am afraid you will find that the majority of banks and building societies with charge anywhere from £30 to £40 for an unpaid direct debit or overlimit fee etc. Why don't you keep within your limit and you will not have to pay any money at all???!0 -
I can tell without a shadow of a doubt that the Halifax ethos is "We want your money and we don't care" (True of most companies these days). I would personally advise anyone to stay away from HBOS for any type of account (Debit & Credit) as they are all specifically designed in their favour. The reason I can tell you this is that i am a "disgruntled ex-employee" and got out because I just couldn't do it any more. If you think what they do to the public is bad, you should try being one of their staff!"Life? Life is nature's way of keeping meat fresh!"0

Actually ive never been charged by the halifax but that doesnt mean I have to sit back and let the raise the charges for everything from failed dd's to chaps payments..
So its down to the nationwide and smile! used to have a smile account to pay my bills out of, why oh why did i ever close it down!!:santa2:0 -
I've always been happy with the customer service I get from First Direct, and I think you'll find that's the general opinion of their customers....0
