18866 have been experiencing connection problems for nearly a week now, frequent engaged tones.
1899 on the other hand sent this reply email to a new registration application.
'Unfortunately your 1899 internet registration has failed.
Due to lack of capacity it is currently not possible to register. Please wait at least 6 weeks before attempting to register again. Our apologies for the inconvenience.

Hardly. Haven't had any problems with 18866 myself - probably localised congestion.
As for 1899, they're almost certainly being prudent. Any half decent provider keeps a tally of how many active customers they have that'll use a given interconnect point with BT. When it gets to the point that traffic models suggest it'll be congested, they'll order additional capacity and in the extreme put a "stop sell" on the area concerned until the capacity's been put in place: better to put off a few new customers than p1ss off all your existing ones. Sounds to me that 1899 have done this in your area, and 18866 have dropped the ball that their model's not predicted impending congestion early enough.I really must stop loafing and get back to work...0 -

As mentioned on this site several times, try registering a mobile number, these usually go through, then go back and add you landline.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -

No i doubt it.
1.18866 got a lot a free publicity from Which recently, and this has no doubt caused rapid growth and an increase in traffic over their network.I must say i have never had a problem getting through, although some members do report from time to time problems at the weekend.
2.Unable to register. This is a common problem and can be circumvented.See this Sticky covering this point.

Same has been happening to me LOADS of times but what can I say, it's a GoOd Service for cheap - no wonder it's popular.
It's really bad on 1899, 18866 is kinda bad...0 -
I've never had a problem with either service, not even at weekends. I'm starting to wonder whether some people just have it in for these companies. It's getting a bit tedious now all of these complaints abot 18866 and 1899. If ya not happy with their service, then best advice is move, rather spend time complaining in here.

Ditto and now they have suspended both my accounts as I can't cahnge my payment details online and they won't do anything to rectify the problem... I have emailed them 20 times.
What do you have to do?
Is this the end of a good run?

Posts have been made regarding the inability to make calls or bad lines through 18866/1899 have been made since I started using 18866 two years ago and I have always felt it was probably more an area problem than anything else as I have never had any problems dialing any numbers via 18866.
