No. Even though different networks may use the same network's signal they will have their own network codes.

    However, you have three options:

1 Unlock the phone (you will have to post the make and model for us to tell you how easy this is, but Nokias as a rule of thumb can usually be done for free with a code, and most phones can be done for under £10 by a shop).

2 Port your number to T-Mobile - if you ring Virgin Customer Service or email them and request a PAC Code they will send you one and you give this number to T-Mobile and they will transfer your number to them.

3 Do both (unlock the phone and port your number), but instead port the number to O2, as they are a better network any way and a sim can be gotten for free (or 99p when the free sims offer isn't on). NB This is Pay-as-you-go advice but I assume that's what you're on.
  • My T Mobile sim locked phone will work with Virgin sim cards, I have tried orange too but that won't work. I was in the link shop yesterday and I asked the manager why this was. He said that virgin and T mobile had some sort of connection although he knew no details. Do you know somone with a t mobile so that you can try your sim?

Because Virgin just piggybacks on to the T-mobile network it does work with some phones... but this is phone dependent. And the only way you can find out is by testing it I'm afraid.

For the record, I've had 2 different phones that were locked to T-Mobile that also worked with my easyMobile and Virgin sims.

If it doesn't work you could always port your number on to the network you want. If you are on Pay As You Go this is usually free.

Sometimes they will, sometimes they will not.It depends entirely on the Dog and Bone involved.

Yes Virgin does piggy back on to T-Mob.
    PF.
  • Thanks for your replies.

The phone I am looking at is the LG C1200,which Argos are selling.

Don't want to buy and then find it does not accept my Virgin Sim,although
could get the number transfered,as suggested.

    I will have a think !!

    Thanks for your help
