It's 6 weeks since I applied for a Birmingham Midshires Direct ISA (Issue 2). My cheque was cleared 19 days ago. Their customer contact telephone line is too busy to answer. WHAT IS GOING ON?:mad:

I applied for their 6.5% instant access account over a week ago. So far, I 've heard nothing, not even received 1 email to tell me that they've received my application. Had nothing through the post either. I'm now thinking that joining them (if I have) was possibly a mistake if this is how they treat their customers.:o0

They were useless
I waited 6 weeks for them to set up the internet access and they did nothing after ringing every week and them saying they would deal with it.
AVOID!!An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T

Anyone with experience to relate on their 6 month bond (AER 6.84%)? I applied over 10 days ago and still waiting for login details. Planning to move over £200k to them. They are part of HBOS hmmm...0

My wife and I both applied for BM's Direct ISA back in April. She finally got her welcome pack yesterday; mine is yet to arrive. Interest does appear to have been backdated though to when they received her initial cheque.
We were also intending to take out BM's 6 month bond. But customer service was reluctant to give any guarantee over the phone about the backdating of interest to when they receive our cheques (only saying that new applications were being dealt with very quickly).
In comparison, Bradford & Bingley did say over the phone that interest will be paid from the day after they receive our cheques for their new 1 year e-bond. So that's probably where our money will be going instead.0 -
I also applied for the Direct ISA at the beginning of April. It took them a month to clear the cheque, another month on and I have still not received the welcome letter acknowledging they have my money.
I have spoken to them and they say the letter is 'on its way'. Very poor but at least they acknowledge they are in receipt of my cash.
In contrast, my daughter opened the esaver internet account (more recently than my ISA), and this is now up and running with no delays.
Gemstar - don't put more than 35K with any bank at the moment! If you put 200k with them and they go bust (yes, part of HBOS) the FSA scheme will only pay out 35k and you lose the rest.0
