And by the same token,Tim,who runs a business for profit and is not a charity,
would presumably not have spent the last few years endorsing his business through himself.......via this site..talk about pot kettle and black..
Hi hollydays:wave:
I see you are up to you favorite hobby again......slating me because you can't accept that someone who sells beds can actually give honest impartial advice about them. I have helped thousands of MSE members either save a fortune, or avoid making a big mistake by making the wrong purchase. Some may have even bought off me, I don't know because I don't monitor it. But one thing I can say is that most of them didn't buy off me (probably because I don't advertise on here).
So if you don't have anything constructive to say then why even bother posting on the thread?? Or do you just like making personal attacks?0 -
I didn't think you had to be a DLA claimant to be able to take advantage of the VAT thing.
For example, I know you can take advantage of the VAT thing if you are buying certain hearing devices, and in most cases you wouldn't be getting DLA for a hearing loss. Likewise special vacuum cleaners and hypo-allergenic bedding - possible to get DLA for severe eczema, but not common. So I don't think that's foolproof.
Hmm, it's a bit of a mine field.
So from what you are saying someone could buy a special vacuum cleaner just by saying that they suffer from eczema??0 -
Anyone could buy the vacuum cleaner. Someone with severe eczema could buy it without paying VAT. I am not sure what declaration has to be signed or what checks are carried out, but I've seen the adverts!Signature removed for peace of mind0

Sorry I did mean without paying VAT.
The buyer does have to fill in a VAT exemption form, so even if it turns out that the buyer isn't exempt, it is the buyer who will be in trouble from Customs & Excise. This means that a dodgy seller can use the VAT exemption as a selling point, but won't get in trouble if a customer takes advantage of it.0 -
You may be able to avoid paying VAT if bed is used /needed for medical reasons, you only have to sign declaration, same with special chairs and other equipment. Many catalogues will show 2 prices.0

This is what we have been discussing on here. You must be eligable for VAT exemtion for the particular product that you are purchasing. However some dodgy sales reps are telling people that they qualify when they don't.0
