Adjustable bed

My parents are moving house soon and have decided to invest in a new bed. My dad has one of those rests because he has to sleep more upright due to his health so I suggested perhaps an adjustable bed. I have read another thread on here about some very unethical companies so just wanted to know if anyone has any recommendations, and advice in choosing a bed or where to get one from -can you get them in 'high st' bed shops?
Also just had another thought -what do you do about sheets -as my mum would still want to lie flat?

We got ours in arthur llewellyn jenkins 3 years ago and it is FAB. Two singles locked together at the base with a double headboard and either is fully adjustable via its own control. Many places have them and it is best to try them out. There is no way I would get one by mail order (except from these people) ours is a recor and is one that we would definitely buy again.

Lots of ordinary bed shops sell these beds now. Many younger people are buying them because they like to be propped up when they watch TV or do some office work in bed..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

No-one's answered the OP about the sheets yet - does anyone know? I can't see that you'd be able to use a double sheet, and I can't help thinking it would be awkward to tuck single sheets in down the middle, but maybe I'm missing something?Signature removed for peace of mind0

if your father needs the bed for health reasons- have you considered asking an Occupational Therapist for advice.S/he may also have info re funding sources.
Do not please buy a bed from one of those comapnies that send people to your door. They are extremely expensive and do not always meet the persons needs.0 -

I've had problems with Craftmatic, took three hours to get rid of their salesperson and the bed seemed expensive for what it was. Also, on one of the complaints boards there are regular threads about problems with Powermatic, would definitely avoid them too. Even the little bed shop near us sells them nowadays, so I'm hoping the charletans will have less appeal to people in the future as the things become more readily available. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Yet again I spend a long time giving 100% impartial advice only for the post to vanish.
So I'll try again: You can get them in the high street stores, but although they aren't nearly as expensive as many of the door to door companies, they still often put up to 400% mark up on adjustable beds as they do with other beds. You should be able to get a double for as little as around £700, but depending on spec you could be looking at up to £2000 for the luxury models with massage units.
The other option is to buy a single adjustable bed, then a normal single divan bed, but have them made so that the two bases can join together.
As for the sheets you need to buy them for two single beds, as they come as two separate mattresses.0 -

There may be advice on there, but it definately isn't impartial. The guide starts off with an advert. Then it refers to supplier lists who all pay to advertise on the site, and although much of the equipment is specialised, some of it isn't, but the prices all are.0
