Im aiming for £20 this month i think :)
  • Hi all,
I really want to join in this challenge for the first time this month. I do have a query though. I understand the pin money coming from money saved on shopping and other purchases but does selling unwanted items on Ebay and the car boots count too? I have drawn up a cashflow forecast in Excel and that tracks my incomings and outgoings and does a good job of stopping me getting into serious trouble like going over the overdraft limit etc. However, I haven't forecast any money coming in from Ebay or the planned car boots so as my cashflow isn't 'expecting' it, would any money made count towards my pms?
Also, I am friends with a local antique dealer and he keeps giving me items to sell on Ebay for him and I take 20% of whatever they sell for as my commission. This also isn't included in my cashflow so any profit after ebay fees etc, should I put that towards my pms too?

Just a reminder that I'll be unsticking this thread some time late tomorrow - by which time it'll be the featured Pin Money Challenge in our Monthly Challenges sticky.

You can find it in our "Challenges" sticky at the top of the forum listing, or you can follow the clue in my signature any time you see it or...

..you can use the Monthly Challenges link in the Blue Bar at the top of every page which looks something like this:-

benjacksmum - ooo, yes, definitely looks like pin money to me: as it's a bonus, not budgetted for etc. And for me, this would also be the best kind of PMS: ACTUAL!

aPMS: £20 for using a Tesco Clubcard voucher to order December travel carparking; £11.01 mystery shop pay, £15 cash back.
So I’m already half way there with £56.01!

However, musn’t lose my focus; I’ve only got another £17.50 in my sights for the month, which leaves about £32 to find! Time to put together a dozen of ebay lots, I think.

    vPMS:
£2.50 elc toy for Christmas stocking bought with nectar card points.
20p reduced shortdated “squeezy” lemon for cleaning cupboard.
    £2.48 for 2 bogof items.
Approx £12.50 dipping into my gift box to put together a couple of v small thank you pressies, new baby gift and birthday present for friends son.
+ 3/4 essential items of clothing bought for dd by a doting grandparent: £10.
    So, total so far: £41.87

off to a good start, with money left in purse from end of last month and some BOGOF's in tesco today my PMS is already £7.22!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! have decided to use any october PMS towards few last chrissie prezzies and perhaps some more birthday prezzies for gift cupboard. i buy these back off myself when bday comes round or its xmastime for set amount budgeted for each person. that money used to just disappear into the budget but this year i am going to put it in my PMS jar! i fancy a big shop in a tesco extra just after xmas for all those bargains for next years xmas and birthdays!!!!!!

Thats alot of pin money to save jamiedodger.Just an idea but you could put that £120 into a seperate pot and call it emergency money, like incase any of your larger appliances break down. ;)
