Phones 4U - why cant I port to Vodafone?

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I am coming to the end of my e2save 12 month O2 contract and am looking for another cashback deal, but want to keep my number.

I have been looking at the Phones 4U and M2YD websites and found some good deals on Vodafone, however in their porting guide it states:

'We currently only support number porting when transferring to T-mobile, Orange, Three, Virgin and BT Mobile, but not Vodafone or O2.'

Is there any way around this, ie can I port afterwards directly with Vodafone or would this invalidate any cashback claims?

Any views appreciated

Not AFAIK - it's all a bit shoddy and broken.

Vodafone only do ports at point of sale, but it seems that phones4u's systems aren't able to cope with this for some reason. A friend who went with m2yd said Vodafone will offer to tear up your original contract and start a new one with the old number ported in, but since this is technically a different account, the cashback will be invalid.

The way I read Phones4U porting is that you can port to O2 or Voda if you go into one of their stores. Obviously then cant get the quidco cashback. Going to have a go at this myself in the next few days. Just hoping p4u dont go bust unlike last year's saga with Mobile Affiliates :(

I phoned phones4u sore(s) .Indeed you can port your number to Voda if you buy your phonre from the store(s).BUT you are not going to get the same cashback deal as you do when bought from their website.
To me it is very dodgy practice. While OFCOM allow you to port your number but the practical effect of Phones4U web sales policy is that you can never get the best advertised rates if you also want to keep your number.
I dont beleive it is beyond their wits to manage their backend systems to allow number porting on WEB sales.
