Yea if your psu is 300W you need at least 400w go for a 500w I got this a few weeks back

    Coolermaster IGreen 600W PSU - 85% Efficiency 8pin ATX12V v2.2 120mm Fan

It comes with power to pci-e card as they need direct power from psu not the motherboard

You can get cheaper psu units btw

Don't buy this card, you can easily get a 8800gt that is based on the newer G92 core that outperforms this one. Rather than the Nvidia 9600, also stick with either a 8800gt or 8800gts. The 9 series was just a fad to milk money out of people.

Also cheaper PSU units are a no go. Never ever compensate on the one thing that is pushing power through all your components unless you want to have a black scar on your motherboard in a month. Go for high quality PSUs like Antec, Corsair or the top brands. If its too cheap, it will cost u a bomb in the long run when your expensive components blow up.

I'd say get the 8800GTS 512MB card that will outperform the GT for £10 more, much better card.

I still stand by my advice about cheaper PSU units, anybody thinking of getting one, please do not. The coolermaster is a very fine unit, and is barely comparable with the cheaper units.

The 9600GT is an excellent card, it's within a few FPS of the 8800GT and when I got mine it was £30 cheaper than the cheapest 8800GT 512Mb. No idea if they're still significantly cheaper than the 8800Gt now but they're certainly worth considering.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

I agree that the PSU shouldn't be an afterthought and it should be budgeted for accordingly. Cheap PSU's often have difficulty in maintaining the voltages on the rails so you might get instability, not to mention cheap components are going to fail earlier.

I've got a Corsair 620w Modular PSU and it's fantastic.
