John Lewis Fitted Kitchens update

I had posted earlier about how impressed I was with the preinstallation service I received and I now want to say it was matched fully by the installation. Great service, everything was delivered when they said it would be, the installer turned up first thing on Monday morning and by Friday my kitchne was fully installed with temporary worktops and sink. The permanent worktops and sink were templated and are being made to measure for installation next week. It looks absolutely beautiful already. I am so happy with the service I have received from JL and would recommend them to anyone.

I am glad someone has had a good experience with John Lewis and using them to fit a kitchen they bought.
All I can say is that this is not my experience and continues to be the case 7 months later and £30k lighter in the pocket. My wife and I thought that we could not go wrong with buying a kitchen and all the appliances from John Lewis, how wrong could we of been.
From the out set we were delivered the wrong washing machine, wrong extractor hood and a broken corner unit on delivery, not to mention a rather expensive triple fridge freezer that was installed broken, and an engineer was dispatched to confirm this, which he did. (not a good start)
Worse was to happen, we had ordered work surfaces and a full template was done. (how could this go wrong) It did go wrong, the company that John Lewis outsource this too templated wrongly and then stuck them down. The whole lot had to be removed and caused untold damage.
7 months on and we are still waiting for the final piece of the work surface to be fitted after nearly all the units had to be replaced. We are now waiting for our glass backsplash to be fitted but again John Lewis outsource this and we have more problems. John Lewis forgot to mention that the glass could not be cut as one piece which we wanted but will have to be cut into four.
I am totally stressed and bewildered how this could go so wrong when a John Lewis kitchen planner was involved from day one. To top it off I have just had a conversation with a John Lewis representative who says they are doing there best to put it right. When do you say enough is enough?0 -

Mine cost 30k ish. It's 30 foot long . Hand made in wood (no chipboard or laminate- built to last ) Seems very reasonable to me! It was about 3 per cent of my house value.
There's very few on MSE who have a one million pound house.0 -
How have you helped? Your thoughts on a 30k kitchen are? Yeh, your gob was shut because?
Azari has helped in this thread far more then you have.I try to help as much as I can. But I'm also honest and speak my mind.

You think £30k is a lot for a kitchen? Don't be looking at Stoneham kitchens then...
(And keep away from Clive Christian, you'd have a heart attack)If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I suggested 30k was a daft amount to pay for a kitchen....your contribution was?
This thread is about John Lewis kitchens and the OP's experience. Not how much is appropriate to pay for a kitchen. Questioning a new posters budget for a new kitchen in a rude manner is not contributing to the thread and as Meepster has already said. 30k is not a huge amount to pay for a kitchen.I try to help as much as I can. But I'm also honest and speak my mind.

Exactly!!!
I sold a kitchen for 4 times what the OP paid. People spend what they can afford and it's not for other people to judge them for it...If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

It obviously sticks in your craw that some people have managed their money in such a way that they can afford homes that are significantly more costly than the average.
You are presumably too dense to appreciate that the reason why they can afford such homes has to do with careful money management over the years which is why they may use this site.
OK, so you are envious but, please, don't let your rather puerile jealousy cause to you be unpleasant to other posters, particularly newbies.
So many wrong assumptions in that post...why?0
